Time to deviate a bit from home-related posts to share a story about another love in my life–handbags. About a month ago G’s parents took us on a fabulous family vacation to Vegas and we all had a blast! G was the golden boy the entire trip—he couldn’t lose. Our first night there he won $1,000 on a $5 poker bet. He had a 4 aces hand—unbelievable! And if my husband winning $1K on one hand of poker wasn’t enough, this was the icing on the cake—Eeee!—G knew how excited I was to check out the Kate Spade store while we were down there. I was thinking about getting a new handbag, but wasn’t sure I wanted to spend the money. I did, however, want to see them, touch them, smell them…basically just get my fix. I’d never seen a real Kate Spade in real life before so I was pretty excited. Anyway, after G won, he told me he wanted to buy me a Kate Spade bag. I couldn’t believe it!! I was so excited I couldn’t sleep that night.
The next day we went to the Kate Spade store in Caesar’s and G said, “Take your time. There’s no rush.” Another shocker—he’s usually so impatient, especially when it comes to shopping. So I took my time and finally narrowed it down to 2. I had G come in and make the final decision—he chose a black leather bag priced at nearly half his winnings. I think I’m still in shock. Later that afternoon I overheard G telling his dad, “I think I’ve figured it out. Handbags for D are like golf clubs for me. You’ve got to take your time and really get a feel for your options. It’s not a decision you want to rush.” I love that man.
And here it is–the Kate Spade Canaan Anne. I love it so much! It has a draw string top which I’m surprised I like, but I like an open topped bag, so I’ve been keeping it open for the most part. When I do close it, I just tuck the ends of the drawstring in the side outer pockets and it looks great! G now calls it the “4 Aces Bag.”
