1. Receiving holiday cards in the mail.

With email, Facebook, cell phones, and texting, holiday cards are pretty much the only time you receive a personal greeting from a friend via mail these days. And oh how I love opening them up! It’s so much fun to see who they’re from and what they wrote–bonus points if there’s a photo!
2. Buying stamps online.

Did you know you could do this? I sure didn’t! Although it makes perfect sense considering you can buy anything online these days. I needed a bunch of stamps for thank you cards and Christmas cards, but kept putting off buying them because going to the post office is SUCH A HASSLE. Luckily I had a light bulb moment, went to www.usps.com, and for only $1 in shipping and handling I had over 100 stamps delivered to my door in just a few short days. Best dollar I ever spent.
3. Starbucks’ Peppermint Mocha Latte

No surprise there, I’m sure. I started every Starbucks Monday in December off with a delicious tall, nonfat, no whip, Peppermint Mocha Latte. And I even snuck a Starbucks Wednesday in there, too. It’s like a little sip of Christmas.
4. My new laptop cushion.

G got me a Belkin CushDesk laptop pad for Christmas and I just love it! It’s amazing how something so simple can make such a difference.
5. My new Keurig coffee brewer.
I’m pretty sure this little guy is going to change my life. I hate getting my big 12 cup coffee maker out just to make one cup of coffee, so more often than not I find myself stopping for a cup of joe on my way to work. Well not anymore! The Keurig brews a single cup of coffee in under 1 minute–no muss, no fuss. I like to keep our kitchen countertops bare, but I love this thing so much that it’s officially become the first appliance that has permission to sit out!

Isn’t it amazing the joy found in going to the mailbox during the Christmas season? I love, love, love getting those cards! And I am totally going to look into that one-cup coffee brewer. The ‘ol Mr. Coffee has done his time…
I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Keurig. I have the exact same model and use it every day.
That’s how I order my latte too! Mmm, now I want to go to Starbucks for a Peppermint Mocha Latte!
Happy New Year, Dusty! Wishing all things wonderful in 2009!
I love my Keurig too! My husband got me one for Christmas…I think i have drank at least 20 cups of coffee since then!
It is possible that I have had 9 Starbucks Peppermint Lattes in the last 2 weeks… and then I wonder where all of my money goes
So while I hate to see these leave the menu, my wallet isn’t as sad at my tastebuds are!
I absolutely love our Kuerig. I got one for my husband this Christmas and he about died. It makes the best coffee, and it works for us given we usually only drink a single cup anyway.
Whoa. What’s with the commercial at the end of the post?
I didn’t know you could buy stamps online! Also I was looking for a laptop cushion so thank you for posting that.
I loved discovering your blog! Looking forward to following your story in 2010 as we both venture into motherhood. Happy new year!
I love me some Peppermint Mocha too from Starbucks, and I love that Target has Starbucks in them now – even more reason to shop
We have the Keurig coffee maker at work and I love it! So convenient!
Holiday cards are the best. I love snail mail! There’s nothing better than a good card!
Just wanted to let you know I have passed on a blog award to you! Go over to my blog and you can check it out
Question about the Keurig- Is it loud? I have a tiny little 3 cup coffee maker but it’s the loudest thing on earth. Since I leave before J ever wakes up, I would love to find something quiet that I can actually use!
My husband bought me a Keurig (same model) with the same hope in mind – that I wouldn’t go to Starbucks as often. Although I think it does make terrific coffee (and tea!) I still like to visit Starbucks just as much! LOL… poor hubby…
I am also a HUGE fan of receiving Christmas cards in the mail – I just like getting mail in general that isn’t asking me for money! While I do adore pictures with my cards I am definitely more a fan of when people actually hand write something in/on their cute photo card to make it personal! I am going to work on doing that next year for everyone…
So excited for you as your due date approaches! Keep us in the loop and no worries, you are going to do great!
Oh man I LOVE getting xmas cards in the mail – I am literally THRILLED to go back home just to get the mail. (Not that I have sent one out yet, oh no, of COURSE not.)
Thanks for your comments everyone!
@K*OS–Happy New Year to you, too!
@Kate–Nine lattes in the past two weeks?? LOL! I’m jealous!
@LizzieBeth–It’s a business that contacted me to do a post sponsorship.
@Kristi W.–G got the laptop cushion on sale at Kohls, and I’ve heard you can find them for a good price at TJ Maxx and Marshalls, too. Good luck!
Thanks Good Egg Hunting!
@Kristen–OMG, yes! There are two entrances to our Super Target and I always use the one by the Starbucks. MMmmmm…it smells so good when I walk in. Love it!
@Esther–Thank you so much; that’s so sweet of you!
@D. Ramblings–For the minute or so it takes to heat up the water it is loud, but I wouldn’t say it’s any louder than my current coffee maker sounds when it brews. Hope that helps!
@Christine–I like when people write a little note on their photo cards, too. Such a nice little extra touch.
