16 Week Bump

I've got to show you my CRAZY 16 week baby bump! Now this may be a little TMI, but I have no problem going there.

I've noticed that when I need to pee REALLY badly my belly sticks out way more than usual. So far G's the only one who's seen the proof first-hand, and when I try to describe this phenomenon to other people they're skeptical. So last week--at 16 weeks pregnant--I decided I had to get the proof on film.

Here's my 16 week bump normally:

Now here's what just blows my mind--this is my belly after I chugged a bunch of water and waited until I had to pee really bad:

And then here it is again 2 minutes later after I went to the bathroom:

Where the heck did it go? Isn't that crazy??

Crazy! But you are still so adorable pregnant. It is one thing i will never get to experience, so i am envious ( in a good way)! =)

Diana July 30, 2009 7:47 AM

What the what? That's crazy...I never knew that happened!

Karen July 30, 2009 7:47 AM

Week 16 - 17 I noticed a "phantom" belly a lot too. After I ate or needed to go to the bathroom, it would be huge, then I would wake up in the morning and it would be gone. I popped finally at around 19 weeks. You are too cute!

kathleen July 30, 2009 8:03 AM

That's nuts. I think it has something to do with the position of the bladder/uterus. What a cool experiment!

C July 30, 2009 8:12 AM

Seriously, what the heck?? That's so crazy- I've never seen anything like it!!

priscilla July 30, 2009 8:13 AM

perhaps its a Renesmee! =D

Jessica {lovely jubbly london} July 30, 2009 8:15 AM

is that normal? I can't believe that happens! You look very cute pregnant, totally working that *little* bump!

Samantha July 30, 2009 8:15 AM

Lol. That.is.awesome.

*claire* July 30, 2009 8:16 AM

Dorian July 30, 2009 8:28 AM

I sometimes have a Phantom belly and I'm not even pregnant! (i call it too much chips and queso!) I totally hear ya! I can't wait to see it when i'm pregnant. You are super cute- little bump and all!

Erin July 30, 2009 8:30 AM

WTF?! I wonder if this will continue through your whole pregnancy.

Also, this was a really fun science experiment. Maybe the kid can tack these photos to a poster board and call it a day the first time the elementary school science fair rolls around.

Heidi July 30, 2009 8:39 AM

Oh my goodness, that's crazy!!!

Stephanie July 30, 2009 8:42 AM

That is hilarious!

amanda July 30, 2009 8:51 AM

I'm 24 weeks pregnant and the only time you can tell I'm pregnant is right after I eat! It's funny how our bodies work sometimes.

Eli July 30, 2009 9:03 AM

That is kind of crazy but I know where you're coming from. I'm not pregnant but if I have to pee really bad and wait my belly expands and I seriously look prego.

Jenny July 30, 2009 9:10 AM

That's me. It started at 16 weeks...by then end of the day I look a good 7 or 8 months pregnant. In the mornings I'm back down to nothing. I've gotten quite used to it but think it'll hit me when it doesn't disappear in the morning.

Amber aka: AmBam, Amborghini, Ambular, BerBer, and Bambi July 30, 2009 9:15 AM

LOL...your posts always make me laugh. This is pretty crazy!

Kristal July 30, 2009 9:18 AM

Oh my gosh. That is absolutely insane!! How is that even possible? It's like you gain and lose 10 weeks, LOL.

Kristal July 30, 2009 9:19 AM

And OMG, can I just say that I love the person who suggested that it may be a Renesmee. :)

theartfulabode July 30, 2009 9:29 AM

you're like a medical marvel or something. :)

theartfulabode July 30, 2009 9:29 AM

you're like a medical marvel or something. :)

Carazy Mom July 30, 2009 9:29 AM

Gotta love our preggo bodies! Its actually quite normal, and much more obvious on a slim person! Your bladder sits basically under and behind your uterus, so when your bladder is full, it will push your uterus out. As baby grows, baby will push back on your bladder and you might find you will have to pee much more frequently, as the uterus will overpower your bladder. Oh the joys of pregnancy!

You look fabulous- full bladder or not!

alisa July 30, 2009 9:40 AM

@Carazy Mom--Glad to hear there's actually an explanation for this. Thanks for the info!

@bklyn76--Maybe that's a sign you're ready for another? Heehee!

@jbhat--Ooh, I got you turned on to Twilight, eh? I love hearing that! Although maybe I should find out how you liked them first before I gush about how excitd I am. What did you think? Also--your "pee bump" comment cracked me up, lol!
