Pregnancy: Week 21
Aug 24-Aug 30
Twenty-one weeks and our baby is now the size of a cantaloupe! Since I don't eat fruit I can never remember if that's the orange one or the green one--but either way I know it's a far cry from her poppy seed days. She should also weigh one pound by now--she's graduated from the oz's to the lb's! (Does this mean I can subtract that 1 pound from the amount of weight that I've gained, and tack it on to the baby's tally? That'd be great.)
Our brilliant baby can now hear sounds from outside the womb, so I've started reading to her at night. Right now I'm reading Baby Bargains aloud to make sure she's fully aware how much her diapers are going to set Mommy and Daddy back. Once I've guilted her into committing to needing diaper changes only once--maybe twice--a day I may move on to Twilight. It's never too early to introduce her to a little vampire love.
This week has been especially tiring and an 8pm bedtime has become my new best friend--although I'm mourning the thought that I may never see late night Sex & The City re-runs again.
On the running front my mileage has been decreasing, but work and weather have been primarily to blame. I'm still feeling pretty good when I'm out there so I'll see how 20 miles feels next week before I consider starting to taper down my mileage.
Now here's a little something I've noticed since being pregnant--people don't make eye contact with me anymore. They're either looking at my boobs and thinking WHERE THE HELL DID THOSE COME FROM? Or they're looking at my belly bump and thinking...hell, I don't even want to know what they're thinking.
Back to the baby. G and I bought our first "girl" things this week. Since finding out we're having a girl we've received some super cute outfits from friends and family, but we couldn't resist picking out a few things ourselves. My absolute FAVORITE is this adorable knit hat that G picked out when we were at Baby Gap Outlet. Oh my goodness it's so cute I wish it came in my size!

And then while browsing gap.com's maternity selection I couldn't help clicking over to the baby clothes to take a peek. This "My heart belongs to Daddy" long-sleeve onesie and long-sleeve polka dot sleeper just HAD to find their way to our daughter's dresser. They're so adorable!

Yay for the first purchase! Baby clothes are too darn cute :) Is that the only color that hat came in? Or did you buy all of them and just not fess up yet? lol
Cute, cute, cute! Any ideas for the nursery yet???
You are going to have one stylish little girl!
Just found your blog and "love it". I have to head off to work but I will be back when I can spend more time. Congratulations on baby. I love babies (my are teenagers, eeek).
Those outfits are adorable, love it!
Love that hat! And love the idea of reading Twilight to her :) I'm currently re-reading the books and I agree, it's never too early! lol
I had a "My Heart Belongs to Daddy" shirt when I was a tot. This was in the 80's, of course, so it was not nearly as adorable as the one you picked out!
This makes me want a daughter immediately. The stuff you got is adorable!
That sleeper is ADORABLE! I wish I had bought more cute sleepers when Avery was tiny because, to be honest, there were days when we didn't leave the house and she wore a sleeper all day! :) Would have been better for the 4378195 pictures I took everyday if her sleepers were that adorable! :)
Wait, you don't eat fruit? (Aaaaaand with that, I miss the point of this post completely.)
So cute! We find out whether our is a boy or girl ("Jack" or "Emmaline"!) at the end of this month. I can't wait!
Those outfits are sooo cute! Having a girl is so much fun until she becomes 3 and sassy! I speak from experience...lol! ;)
Girls are the best! Such cute clothes! Nothing like that for boys! You'll get tons - from everyone, because everyone likes to buy sweet girl clothes! So adorable!
you are going to have the cutest baby girl! so stylish already!!
As much as I *love* having a baby boy, those outfits sure make me want my second baby to be a girl! How freakin' adorable!
Adorable Dusty! I LOVE those outfits and the hat!
I can't believe you held out that long to buy baby girl clothes! I am due 2/3/10 with a girl and she has a summer wardrobe already!
Not sure if you are planning on breastfeeding, but at first I had problems pumping and whenever I would sit down and watch SATC apparently it relaxed me enough to actually get a decent amount of milk.
You know how you do your style posts? You are going to have to do those for the baby now. :)
Found your blog a couple of weeks ago and love checking in on your style or whatever! Congrats on your baby girl :) Mine is 18 months!
I had to comment when I read about your new bed time schedule...I miss those days of SATC re-runs :( It's probably been about 27 months! HEHEHE! I also want to add that I admire you running through your pregnancy. Take care!
Let the shopping for baby clothes begin!
I had (and still do) a thing for Gymboree which isn't good because their clothes aren't cheap unless you use gymbucks or shop the sales (thought I've heard Gymbo is cheaper in the US). Wait until you discover gymbucks, or better yet, wait until your friends get gymbucks that they don't want to use and give them to you!
The hat, onesie and sleeper are just so darn cute!
Happy baby shopping!
Love those little outfits ... oh my goodness ... how precious!
Thanks everyone! Your comments are all so sweet!
@blondie--I'm pretty sure that's the only color the hat came in otherwise I'm sure we would have brought home more than one, lol!
@Jen M--Yep, I've finally started on the nursery! I'm so excited about it. Can't wait to post pictures when I'm finished!
@Dawnie--Thank you! And welcome!
@HG--Thanks for the tip! I was thinking we'd have her in sleepers most of the time in the beginning, and I'm glad to hear you confirm it. Thanks!
@Erin--Nope, I'm just not a fan of it. I can choke down an apple every now and then, but that's about it. I hope my daughter doesn't inherit that trait!
@Ashley--Ooh, that's so exciting! And those are wonderful names. Can't wait to hear what you're having!
@June--Oh I'm sure. And I can already imagine what those teenage years are going to be like. Eek!
@Kelsey--So maybe my late night SATC viewings are not gone for good, eh? ;)
@Bethany--Hi, and welcome! Thank you for your comment, and congrats to you on your new precious baby!
@K*OS--I've heard good things about Gymboree. I'll be sure to check them out!
So you don't eat ANY fruit?! How can that be?
You don't eat FRUIT? Why? Have you ever? What turns you off!?!?!
Oh and those little baby girl's clothes are just too cute!!!!
The hat looks damn cute. I know how good the feeling to purchase first time something for the kid growing inside. Wish you Good luck.
