Knee-High Boots & Argyle Socks

December 4, 2009 By Dusty Rogers 20 Comments

I’ve committed to wearing flats at least once per week now that I’m in my third trimester, so I decided it was time for me to buy some “sensible shoes” to add to my closet. For weeks I looked online and in stores, searching for the perfect pair of flats that would keep my tootsies toasty and not make me gag.

They don’t exist.

Or at least that’s what I had decided as I spinned on my 3″ heel and headed toward the exit on what I swore would be my last day of flats shopping. But I couldn’t, in good conscious, leave the shoe department without first having a quick drool over the knee-high boots stacked like gorgeous leather towers in the opposite end of the store.

And that’s where I spotted them–gorgeous knee-high boots in my favorite whiskey leather color, just begging me to try them on. And what’s this? No heel? FLAT knee-high boots??

Finally some flats I can get behind! Why didn’t I think of this before?

Okay, okay, so they may have a smidge of a wedge heel to them, but for all intents and purposes they’re flats to me. And I love them. And I hope you do too because it’s quite possible I’ll be wearing them every day for the rest of my life.

Dress: Gap Outlet
Tank: Motherhood Maternity
Jersey Scarf: Old Navy
Boots: Steve Madden Incca
Socks: Old Navy
Pregnancy: 32 weeks

My second favorite part of this outfit? Argyle knee-high socks peeking out the back:

    You have to be one of the most fashionable pregnant women I have ever come across. You have great style! Love the boots! :)

    Love the boots and socks look! I used to wear heels a lot too since I’m short but now I’m all about finding super cute flats.

    You got Madden flats, I just bought me a pair of Madden heals. My first pair of really high heals. I don’t know how you do it, girl! I was glad I was sitting a lot last night while I was wearing them.

    Those are great boots. I’m tall so end up wearing lots of flats… FYI- Me Too has lots of cute styles and they’re comfortable too.

    My number one on the Christmas list? Slouchy boots without a heel.
    I LOOOOVE heels, but I work in aviation so it doesn’t really lends itself to stilettos. Trust me, I’ve tried.

    Love the scarf too- what a fun pop of color!

    So cute!!! Love them =) I would die without flats… I work at a huge university and don’t have enough seniority to park very close to my building. It’s probably almost a quarter-mile walk, twice a day, sometimes in the driving snow. I still brave heels most of the time, but sometimes I just give up!

    Know what’s funny… I was totally going to suggest those boots in the comments section when you said you didn’t find anything. HA! I’m wearing them right now!

    I LOVE them with the argyle socks! I may have to steal that idea!!

    Very cute! I have a pair just like that from Target that have been getting some love in the blogosphere this season, the Kady boot: http://www.target.com/Womens-Mossimo-Kady-Boots-Cognac/dp/B002400F5E

    At first glance, I thought those were the same boots I have from Target! See Colleen’s link. LOVE THEM! And for only $30. =)

    Thank you so much for all your wonderful compliments everyone!

    @K*OS–Your new heels sound sassy! Hope you’re having fun with them!

    @Alison–Thanks for the recommendation!

    @LizzieBeth–Ooh, I hope you get your Christmas wish. You’ll have to let me know if you do!

    @Vee–Luckily I only have about a 10 foot walk from my car to the office door, so I can get away with the heels. I’d be in big trouble if I had to park as far away as you do, eek!

    @Melanie–Nope! I’m 36 weeks pregnant now, so this pic was taken a few weeks ago while we were still having some unusually warm November weather.

    @HG–Great minds think alike! šŸ˜€

    @Colleen & Priscilla–I spotted those boots at Target shortly after I bought mine, and I have to say they’re pretty much an exact replica! If they had been real leather I would have happily exchanged these boots for them. You can’t beat that price!

    @Brakes & Gas–I know how you feel! I was thinking the very same thing when I first got them, lol!
