Things Loved In June
1. Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred

Admittedly, this is more of a love/HATE relationship. Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred workout DVD consists of three 20 minute strength, cardio, and ab workouts. All you need are hand weights, a mat, a bucketful of sweat, and a vocabulary guaranteed to make sailors blush. So far I'm only on level 2 (there are 3 levels total) but I already feel like I'm seeing results. If there's any chance my pre-baby body is under there someone, I'm pretty sure Jillian will be the one to beat it out of me!
2. ABC's The Bachelorette

Why do I keep watching these shows?? It must've been that sexy Weatherman that got me to tune in this time. With his love of showtunes and his ability to cry at the mere thought of kissing of woman--that's good stuff right there. Or maybe it was Crazy Kasey who's just looking to guard and protect, guard and protect, guard and protect, guard and protect someone's--ANYONE'S--heart? That's a tattoo he'll never regret, right? (Excuse me while I clean up the coffee I just spit all over my laptop.) Ali dodged a bullet with that whole Jake thing, so it'll be interesting to see how well she fends off the rest of the crazies. I'm pretty sure Kasey has a shield he could lend her.
3. Reading a book that had nothing to do with babies or parenting.

Reading a book for pleasure? When you have an infant??
Yes, it's possible.
I thought Kate would be in college before I'd have the time or energy to devote to reading a book that didn't drone on about how I should feed or sleep or entertain my child, but in June I decided to give it a shot. I committed to reading just one chapter per night, and still have the lights out by 9:30pm so I could get a good night's sleep. (The book was John Grisham's The Associate for those of you who are interested. I like his books but this one was just average in my opinion.) While the book didn't knock my socks off, I was very happy to be reading for entertainment again!
4. This top from Old Navy:

I've never worn this style of shirt before, but I recently ordered it from oldnavy.com and I love it. It is so comfortable and (hopefully) flattering that I wish I could wear it every day!
5. The song "Hey, Soul Sister" by Train. June was a slow "love" month, so I'll add my current favorite song to the list. It's just a fun, roll down the windows and belt it out, kind of song. Go ahead, you know you want to.

I started 30 day shred last week--still on level 1 (which, btw, how are you supposed to do the levels?)--and I'm really loving it (and hating it) and I'm thinking it works, too (even after only a week!)
I'm also indulging in the bachelorette this season, too. I haven't really watched in the past, but for some reason this time I'm hooked. You're totally right. It was probably the Weatherman. YIKES.
I'm doing 30 Day Shred too! I'm still on level one... and I've only done one workout so far (started yesterday!) It was ridiculously hard, but I know I'll get results that way! :)
I want to try the Shred or P90X but don't want to pay for it. Cheapo!
I'm addicted to the Bachelorette too. I think one of the final guys is going to dump her...but really, she's not the only one getting to make the choice.
I have Hey, Soul Sister stuck in my head pretty much ALL the time.
Have a great day!
I hear you with the Bachelorette. Why or why do I continue to watch such smut? Maybe because it's a time when I don't have to think and can laugh at how ridiculous some people can be when the cameras are rolling. Don't worry, I'll be tuning in tonight.
I was a 'shred head' before my wedding. And you're so right, it is DEFINITLEY a love/hate relationship. And speaking of weddings, we used 'soul sister' for our wedding video bridal prep montage. Perfect song!
You should read "The Help"! Easy to get into, reads quickly, and a great story!!
Oooh I love John Grisham! Have you read the Broker? It's my absolute fav! :)
Jillian and I have had a love hate relationship and I'm sure post baby we will meet again...lol.
Yay for good books!
I LOVE Jillian's 30DS. I've been doing it for the past month and a half getting ready for my wedding next week! I can feel a difference in my body, and my fiance does too! Everyonce in a while, he'll say " God bless that Jillian Michaels" ;)

I agree with all of these! :)
Great list!
I was wondering if you could tell your readers (especially us mommies to be!) what baby products you would recommend and what you received that you disliked. I am at a loss as to which bouncy seat, jumparoo, playmat, and exersaucer to buy!
At least you've been doing the workout! I got the Wii fit for Christmas and have never tried it!
That is a good list. Good to know that you are squeezing a workout into your busy day. Don't tell me you're also running. I'll be on inspriration overload.

Oh, how I hate the plank jacks. I've been using the 30 day shred on days when I don't run. So I run one or two days a week and then shred the other day or two. I try and do something at least three days a week. I think level 3 is easier than level 2. I LOVE that its only 20 minutes even though it feels a lot longer while you are doing it.

I've been thinking of "shredding" so I'm glad to know that it's worth it!
What is with you and every other girl in my circle of friends and the Bachelorette? (Full disclosure: I totally get it but am not allowed to watch it. I've forbidden myself. Too addicting. And it breaks my heart too often.)
@MaryGene--I think you just move to the next level whenever you feel ready. I did 10 days of level 1 before moving to level 2, but that will be different for everyone.
@Cortney--I got my Shred DVD on Amazon for under $10!
@liz--What a great song for that! I'm sure it was a hit.
@Anonymous--Thanks for the recommendation. I'll have to check that one out.
@Lovely Little Nest--I'm not sure if I've read The Broker yet or not. I've read a lot of his books but I can't always remember the titles. If I haven't yet I'll def. check it out!
@Gia--I've been working on a list and will try to get is posted soon. Thanks for the request!
@jbhat--Still running, but no where near as much as I should be to offset all the carbs I consume these days!
@Anonymous/Jennifer--Those plank jacks can kiss my ass. I wish I was strong enough to do them with one hand so I could throw shit at the TV with the other. But I agree--I love that it's only 20 minutes. Like my friend Allison says, "It's pretty much over before I can even begin to hate it!" Lol!
@Melissa O--I'm jealous of your restraint. Nice work!
