Kate is ridiculously perceptive. I snuck away to paint my toenails yesterday and the very first words out her mouth as soon as she saw me afterwards were, “Oooh, I like your red toenails, Mama!”
Her admiration of my toenail polish continued for the rest of the day yesterday and into today. I’m not one to rush into “girlie” things with Kate–if anything, I try to avoid it for as long as possible!–but this afternoon, after admiring my painted toenails for 435th time she so very sweetly asked, “Can Kate have cute red toes like Mommy?”
How could I say no to that?!

That is absolutely adorable!
Aw!
LOVE this!
My little one also loves polish. I have only ever painted her little thumbnail, which she seems satisfied with. It’s cute to see her blow on it to dry it. Of course, it’s messed up within minutes…even with the Insta-dry kind. (She takes after me, I think.)

Very sweet. My daughter loves getting her nails (finger & toes) painted. I kind of rushed into the girlie things with my girls. The baby will be 1 on Thursday and I painted her toes this afternoon for the first time.
Clearly you can’t so no! I love it. I can’t wait to have a little girl to share special moments like this. Until then… I’ll paint Hunter’s nails (shhhh, don’t tell JEGs 😉

Awww, thank you for your sweet comments everyone!
@jbhat: I love the thumbnail idea! I’ll be sure to use it when the day comes that Kate asks me to paint her fingernails.
@Ashley: Aww, so fun! I bet your girls love that!
@LB: Your secret is safe with me! (And the internet.)
so cute! how did she do with sitting still to let them dry? my daughter started asking to get her nails painted after my most recent pedicure a couple of weeks ago, but i’m not sure if she’ll be able to sit still long enough.
You’ve probably started an obsession. My daughter is the same age as Kate and I painted her toes for the first time a couple of months ago. Now it’s a constant thing! She refuses to have “naked” toes any more.
You have the perfect-est sweetheart. Gah… I NEED a little girl. LOL 😀
@bridget: I sat her on one of our counter-height chairs (that she can’t get down from without help) while I painted her toes and while they dried. She was pretty much held hostage up there, but she did great!
@Audrey: Awww, that’s so cute!
Thank you britt!
Such a cute photo! Kate is speaking so well!
Thank you Megan!
