Parade of Homes–Fabulous 2-Story Living Room

July 9, 2008 By Dusty Rogers 13 Comments

Last month I attended the 2008 Madison-area Parade of Homes–an event I look forward to every summer. I took over 300 pictures of homes showcased in the Parade. Some were pics of spaces/decor I loved and others were just things I found interesting or that I thought other people might enjoy. This is the first of several blog entries to come, highlighting the homes I saw that weekend.

This home was built by Princeton Custom Homes and is in Madison’s Blackhawk Neighborhood. It has 3,176 square feet, a 2 story entry, 4 Bedrooms (all with WICs), 3.5 Bathrooms, & a Mudroom with a pet shower.

This was one of my favorite houses–not exactly decorated in my style, but I loved the layout. Especially the 2-story Living Room. The hardwood floors throughout this house were protected with black padding, so try to look past that in these pics. The actual floors were gorgeous.

This was the view when you first walked in–open staircase leading up to an open upstairs hallway and a lofted area (LOVE) overlooking the Living Room. Living Room straight ahead, and Formal Dining Room to the immediate right.

The Living Room–this picture was taken from the first landing of the open staircase. I just loved this room. The furniture isn’t exactly what I would have chosen, but I love the layout with the two chairs facing the oversized couch. I also loved the rug and window treatments. And how neat is that bamboo behind the sofa? Beautiful!

Pic 1: Left side of the Living Room.
Pic 2: Right side of the Living Room–you can see the informal dining area/eat-in part of the kitchen in the background.

Some home decor. The representative for the home told us the majority of the home decor used for the showing came from Cost Plus World Market, which I thought was neat.

This second-floor loft area (overlooking the Living Room) had a little wine bar, seating for 2, and a fireplace. They called it the “Mezzanine” but I called it Heaven.

Another shot of the Mezzanine/My Heaven. It even had a zebra print rug–swoon!

This was the view from the Mezzanine/My Heaven–gorgeous open staircase, Entryway in the background. And again, they had black padding covering the hardwood floors for the showing, otherwise you’d have seen the gorgeous dark wood that matched the staircase.

Another shot of the Living Room. This pic was taken from the upstairs hallway which was also open to below. You can see the center curve/pop out of the Mezzanine to the right.

Formal Dining Room:

The Master Bedroom. Not the most impressive space I’ve seen, but I did like the mix of colors and patterns used for the bedding. I also really liked the chandelier–very pretty, but not too over-done.

Some bathroom decor:

Pic 1: Powder Room. I loved the sink and the wall decor.
Pic 2: An organization/charging station in the hallway between the mudroom and the kitchen–love!

And last, but not least, The Mudroom–complete with a tiled doggie bathing station, and the ever-popular wall words.

Yes, I agree! Chase def. needs a pet shower–that would be wonderful.

Does it come with a dog washer, because I’m not so really into getting scratched. But maybe if Casco had his own space, he’d like showers a little more.

I think we might be soul mates – except that you excel at organization and I make very weak attempts at it.

    Love the mezzanine area too!
The doggie shower is pure genius! I would make the Hubs use it occasionally, too =)

Gorgeous! Can’t wait to see the rest of the houses. Did you and WJ go together again this year?

And, thank you so much for your sweet comment. It really does make me feel better. I definitely admire your job. Most of the time, it’s so much easier to let the social worker deal with some of these cases while we run off to our other patients. I cannot imagine having to deal with children like this on a daily basis.

Maybe when we’re both rich we can buy a mansion (a la parade of homes style) and house all these precious babies that we run into. Deal?
