With Baby G&D due just after Christmas I decided not to do any holiday decorating this year. Putting up the tree and decking the halls is something I always look forward to, but I just know if I did it this year it would be June before I found the time to take it all down and pack it back up. So to satisfy my itch I thought I’d share some of my favorite Christmas decorations from years past.
Let’s start with last Christmas:
I wrapped some of the picture frames on our dining room photo wall to look like presents and I just love how it turned out! It was my favorite thing from last year’s decorations.
Chase was posing so pretty for this picture, that I just had to include it again this year!
I love decorating for Christmas in bronzes and golds, but decided to do the entryway in red for a fun bit of color:
On this year I placed gold ornaments around the photo wall in the dining room:
I had a lot of fun with our Christmas dinner tablesetting this year:
On the back of each guest’s name card I put a question such as “What is your favorite Christmas memory?” or “What is your favorite thing about the person sitting to your right?” We then took turns going around the table and answering questions while we enjoyed dinner. It was a lot of fun!
Christmas 2006 was our first Chirstmas in our current house and our old full-sized Christmas tree wouldn’t fit, so we made do with this little guy:
I used a lot of glass in my holiday decorations this year. I lined the windowsills with garland, ornaments, and candles on glass holders:
I used an unframed floor-length mirror as a table runner and topped it off with more pretty glassware:
And used mirrored chargers for the placesettings:
And there you have it–some of my favorite Christmas decorations from the past three years!
I love the table setting. Thanks for sharing =)
You have such amazing taste, I always love seeing your decorations and your Christmas decorations are just as fab! Love them!
I’ve always loved your Christmas decor. And was going to do more this year because of your inspiration, but then I got lazy. And not “I’m popping a kid out in a few weeks lazy”, just lazy. Not a good thing.
There was one year we didn’t decorate. We were gone so much during the month of December and were gone during the holidays it didn’t seem worth it. It’s a little dreary without the decorations at Christmas but a huge bonus – you do not have to put it all away! And I agree, that is the last thing you’ll want to do when baby G&D arrives!
I have to admitt, I’m a little bummed you didn’t decorate- I look foward to your Christmas posts.
Well, for good reason though. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

You are definitely my favorite Christmas decorator. I love everything. Festive but not overdone. I need lessons from you. =)
Oh how cute, love everything about your picture ledges! Great post and cute blog!
Thanks so much everyone!
I love the photos turned gifts I’m definitely stealing that idea! Thanks for sharing!
I absolutely LOVE your decorations!! And I have to ask, I noticed one of your photos is a girl with super long hair, is that you by any chance??
Wrapping the picture frames was such a smart idea. Looks great!
@Anonymous–The girl in the pic with the long hair isnt’ me–it’s my youngest sister, Amanda. But I’ve actually had super long hair my entire life; I just chopped it all off a couple of years ago. Here are a couple of pics of what it looked like before I did a shot of tequila and gave my hairdresser the green light: Pic 1 and Pic 2.
Hey there!! Just wanted to tell you that I loved the tablescape you did!! What is the centerpiece exactly? My eyes are bad, but looks to be a hurricane thingy with some tiny gold and silver balls and a candle? Simplicity at it’s finest!
@Lindsey–Thank you! And yep, the centerpiece is a hurricane candle holder with a large candle in the center and mini dark gold, light gold, and bronze ball ornaments inside.
