Yes, yes, I know–traditional fashion rules say no white after Labor Day…which is why I finally got off my ass and downloaded these pictures of an outfit I’ve worn a few times this summer to post today.
Today, as in on Labor Day.
On.
Not after.
Which means no points deducted for those of you keeping score.
The Occasion: Work
Top: Banana Republic
Cardigan: Target
Capris: Banana Republic
Handbag: Kate Spade
Shoes: Calvin Klein
The cardi is necessary while I work in “The Freezer” (what I lovingly call my overly air conditioned office), but when I step outside that bad boy comes off:
I told you about my beloved new CK wedges back in June, and here they are in action. I’ve worn them nearly every day this summer and the truth is…it’s true love. I’ll continue wearing them all fall until the snow hits the ground…and then maybe I’ll throw some wool socks under them and keep on stepping.
I’ll hang up the white capris after today, but I’ll be damned if I let a little thing like a change in seasons come between me and my shoes.
LOVE the yellow.
Love that outfit, girl!
Gorgeous as always! I adore the shoes and the straw bag is the perfect accessory.
Cute outfit!
Love the top! Which reminds me, I really need to get over to the new Banana Republic outlet that opened up in our town recently. I can hear my wallet screaming, “Noooooo!” 😉
Where did you get your sunglasses? I’m looking for a new pair but I keep buying pairs that look like my previous pairs.
As always, love your style and outfits! Glad you rocked the white just in time!
Do you know the real reason behind the “no white after Labor Day” rule? Back in the day, we used coal to heat our homes and buildings. Coal makes a big mess when it burns. Since Labor Day is the unofficial end of summer, we would start using our heaters after this past weekend. Wearing white around towns heated by coal would look horribly dingy by the end of the day. This is why it shouldn’t matter when we wear white (though I still avoid it because of the style rule).
Love the outfit. I would wear white jeans all year if I could.
Thanks everyone!
@KOS–The sunglasses are from Gap. Have fun shopping!
@Anne Marie–That is so interesting! Thanks for sharing. I love finding out little bits of trivia like that.
