When Mike’s Hard Lemonade contacted me about hosting a Winter Olympics viewing party I was all, “You want to hire me to throw a party (yes!), sit on the couch all night (I’m in!) and drink your delicious beer?!”
I couldn’t swap out my corkscrew for a bottle opener fast enough.
We invited G’s volleyball teammates and their families – a great group of people I was excited to get to know better – to join us for the night. They love a good sporting event, their Mike’s Hard Lemonade, and cheering on Team USA!
Once our guest list was set, I turned to decorations. I’ve never hosted an Olympic viewing party before, and had so much fun playing around with the theme!
What would the Olympics be without the rings?
I made these DIY Olympic rings out of cardboard and crepe paper streamers. First, I traced a large circle onto cardboard using a pizza pan, and a slightly smaller inner circle using a pot lid. I cut them out using a combination of scissors, box cutters, and luck (I almost lost a digit) and then wrapped them with crepe paper streamers, securing the end with tape. I hung them in our living room windows using fishing line and removable hooks.
My fun with the Olympic rings didn’t end there – next I set up a tray on our coffee table with little bowls full of candy in the colors of the rings, along with “Go USA!” coasters, and some Olympic trivia cards compliments of Mike’s Hard Lemonade:
The other side of our living room sported a vase full of American flags and more coasters:
I found this “Team USA” printable online and strung it from the window with yarn (in case there was any question who we’re rooting for).
Then I stuffed some orange and red tissue paper in a vase to make a little Olympic torch centerpiece:
Who needs ice? The snow out on our deck was the perfect spot for keeping our Mike’s Hard Lemonade cold!
The kitchen caught the Olympic spirit with the addition of international flag bunting strung between our island pendants:
With our Mike’s on ice snow and our house in the Olympic spirit, it was time to add friends and cheer Team USA on to the gold!
G and I forgot to snag a pic before the party ended, so we snuck a selfie before recycling our beer bottles and calling it a night.
Thank you so much to Mike’s Hard Lemonade for such a fun night!

What a fun excuse to host a party. As always, your decorations were great; I especially like the torch centerpiece.
Thank you so much, Alison!
YUM! Now I want to try the different flavors. Question: what kind of plant is that in your living room next to your TV? Is it live or faux?
Hi Kara! I’m so sorry, but I have no clue what the name of that plant it. It’s real and grows like crazy!! I’m constantly cutting the stalks to try to keep it in check. I swear if we didn’t have ceilings it’d probably never stop, haha. Sorry I couldn’t be more help!
Nice interior designing and interior furnishing!
