July 2, 2014 By Dusty Rogers 54 Comments

Must-Have Essential Oils that every home needs!

You’ve been hearing about essential oils and you’re interested in trying them, but you have no clue where to start.

Does that sound about right?

If so, you’re not alone.

I’d been hearing about essential oils for more than a year and only recently purchased my Young Living Essential Oils starter kit.  Those little colorful bottles can be intimidating!  Know what else they are?  Addicting.  (In a good way.)  Since I’ve received my kit, we’ve been using essential oils in our home daily, and now I cannot imagine life without them.  There are probably a million helpful uses for Young Living’s Essential Oils, and I know neither of us has the time to research them all, so I’ve teamed up with a group of fabulous “oily” bloggers, and we’re here to give you the crash course.  (And some free stuff – keep reading!)

There are 11 must-have essential oils included in Young Living’s Premium Starter Kit.  I’ll be giving you the 411 on Lemon Essential Oil, and the links after the video will take you on a blog tour to other sites to learn about the rest.

Ready to learn about Lemon?  Pucker up and let’s begin!

An overview of Lemon Essential Oil uses, including how to make Homemade Reusable Disinfectant Wipes! | www.allthingsgd.com

Keep the lessons going and click any of the links below to learn about the other must-have essential oils you need in your home:

Frankincense ♦Joy ♦Lavender ♦Lemon♦Panaway ♦ Peace & Calming ♦ Peppermint ♦ Purification ♦ Stress Away ♦ Thieves ♦ Valor ♦ Ningxia Red

Now for even more fun!  Enter our Young Living Essential Oils giveaway on any of our sites using the Rafflecopter widget below for your chance to win ALL 11 of these must-have essential oils, plus a bottle of Ningxia!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

I hope you win.

I really do.

But just in case you don’t, I’m not going to leave you hanging.

There are two ways you can enjoy Young Living’s Essential Oils:

  1. Sign up as a Retail Customer (it’s free!) to shop Young Living and pay retail prices.
  2. Sign up as a Wholesale Member (which requires the purchase of a starter kit; prices and products included vary) and receive products at a 24% discount.

(Please sign up using my referral links above and I will receive a credit for your purchase at no additional charge to you.  Thank you!)

I purchased the Premium Starter Kit from Young Living (one of the starter kit options you’ll see if you sign up as a Wholesale Member) because it’s a great way to buy the most popular everyday oils at a huge discount (and I like discounts).  This kit comes with the 11 bottles of essential oils that we’re highlighting in this tour, along with a cold air Home Diffuser, samples of Ningxia, and lots of other goodies.  And I have to add – Kate loves the diffuser!  It’s a humidifier, air purifier, atomizer, and aromatherapy diffuser all in one, and she’s claimed it for her bedroom (it’s small enough that it easily fits on her nightstand, which I love).  I diffuse a couple of drops of Peace & Calming Essential Oil at bedtime and she’s out like a light!

If you sign up to become a Wholesale Member, not only will you get 24% off retail prices, but you’ll also have access to a thriving online community so you can easily access information on how to use your essential oils, and receive incredible support to answer to all your questions.  There is ZERO obligation to buy more oils unless, of course, you really want to!

It’s my daughter’s favorite! If she’s cranky and really needs a nap, I also rub a little bit on the bottoms of her feet and it helps get to sleep (instead of laying awake and playing in her bed). Good luck!

Purification is great! I think I mentioned in an early post that I put it on a spot of acne and it was gone in a day. I’ve also recently used it directly on my skin for mosquito bites and it takes the sting and itch right away. I haven’t tried it this way yet, but I’ve learned you can also rub it on the outside of your throat to soothe a sore throat.

We love Peace & Calming. In addition to sleep, you can also apply or diffuse it to release tension in yourself or in your home and promote peace and well-being. Many people have reported it helping calm their overactive or hard-to-manage children. It can also be used to reduce depression, anxiety, stress and insomnia – lots of wonderful benefits! If you haven’t already done so, click on the “Peace & Calming” link below my video above to learn more!

Thieves is another great one for cleaning! You can adjust the recipe of these DIY Disinfectant Wipes to include Thieves if you’d like. Just add 5-6 drops of Lemon and 5-6 drops of Thieves.

Great choices, Kelly! I like the Stress Away because it comes with a little roller ball insert. I keep it in my purse and just roll it across the insides of my wrists (like you would perfume) any time I’m feeling stressed or overwhelmed. It’s so handy!

Thieves is another favorite of mine, Jane. I just tried Joy for the first time last week (I diffused it in my kitchen) and it’s got a strong floral scent that I wasn’t quite sure about it; very rosy. I was cooking, though, so I think that might have been throwing me off (the mix of all the scents/flavors). I’ll try it again when I’m working or relaxing to see how I like it. I definitely noticed an improvement in my mood, which is great! I was feeling stressed and felt much perkier once I started diffusing Joy. I’ve read that some people who think the smell is too florally have had success mixing Joy with another oil like Peppermint or one of the citrus ones for a bit of a different aroma (while still feeling the benefits of Joy). It’s all personal preference, of course.

Just be careful with wiping off stone counter tops. Acidic things like lemon juice(where essential oils are more concentrated) will eat away on the sealer and make your stone susceptible to staining.

I’ve been using Frankincense mixed with whipped oils as a night cream on my face, and I love it! When I prefect the recipe I’ll post it to my blog. I’ve spent a ton of money on face creams over the years, but this DIY alternative is less expensive and so effective. I’ve been getting so many compliments on my complexion lately!
