2 Things You Need In Winter

December 19, 2008 By Dusty Rogers 8 Comments

1. A full tank of gas.

2. A cross made out of popsicle sticks, stolen from a nursing home.
When it’s the middle of the night, and your car is stuck in a snow bank, and you don’t have a cell phone, so you and your friend need to trek through knee-deep snow to find the nearest payphone (which just so happens to be in the lobby of a nursing home)–there’s just no doubt. You need that cross made out of popsicle sticks hanging over the doorway more than they do. God understands.

HA! That cross watched over my apartment in college for years. Everyone always wondered where it came from… I always liked to think of it as our small moral victory from the night, a “sign” if you will.
The best part of the night has been left out–getting stuck and losing your car keys in the waist-deep snow! What kind of candy bar did we scarf down when your friend showed up?? I can’t remember…

@ my accomplice–LOL! That cross was a total victory, for sure! I’m certain it protected us the remainder of that evening! And no worries–the rest (but not ALL, heehee!) of the story is still to come!
