Houston, We Have A Problem

December 15, 2008 By Dusty Rogers 15 Comments

I’m currently in Houston, Texas–visiting G who is down here for a business trip–and having a wonderful time! Lots of sightseeing, fabulous food, and delicious tequila. However, Houston and I aren’t seeing eye-to-eye on one thing:

How is it possible their downtown Macy’s is an entire city block and 5 stories of retail, yet has the most meager handbag department I’ve ever seen? Isn’t everything supposed to be bigger in Texas??

You should check out the Galleria Macy’s. MUCH better selection than the downtown store. Love your blog!

I am a native Houstonian and I agree, the Macy’s in the Galleria Mall will exceed your expectations! Check it out if you get a chance and you should not be disappointed; also at night they have the Galleria area beautifully lit up with lights everywhere. Check out the huge tree too in the Galleria Mall with the ice skating rink. Also, I know you blogged about eating at the Grand Luxe Cafe in another city you were visiting and they one right across the street from the Galleria Mall! Ok, I think I am done. Please do enjoy your visit to Houston!

Yes, go to the Galleria!! It’s amazing. We are flying to Houston this weekend to visit the hubs’ family…Actually, my SIL is a designer there, so I’ll see if she has any handbag shopping recommendations.

You will LOVE the galleria, in addition to freestanding Coach, Burberry, Louis Vuitton, and Kate Spade stores; Macys, Saks, Niemans, and Nordstrom all have AMAZING handbag selections. Have fun!

Yes, I am here in Houston. I left you a comment on your page when I saw you were here!!! Is this your first visit? I am not as familiar with downtown shopping, but the Galleria has AMAZING shopping. It is only 15-20 minutes from downtown. From downtown take Memorial Drive all the way until the 610 loop and take a left to get on the access road, Look for Westheimer St, take a right and that should put you in the Galleria area. The Galleria is located at the intersection of Westheimer Rd. and Post Oak Boulevard just off Loop 610. Here is the phone number (713) 622-0663

Thanks for the tip on the Galleria Mall ladies–it looks amazing!! I should have known I could turn to my readers for help! Unfort. I waited too long to do so, and we weren’t able to fit a trip to Galleria into our schedule. And it was too far away for me to walk while G was at his conference during the day (about 10 miles–although I did still consider it, lol!). So no new handbag this time around, but I still had a great time in Houston!
