So Long Old Friend

I was 10 weeks pregnant before I had the heart to finally pour out the opened bottle of wine that had been sitting on my countertop--untouched for weeks.

So long old friend.

But don't worry--I'll be back!

Another soldier down.

Fear not D. An old soldier never dies.. they just... fade away.

What was a half full bottle of wine doing on your countertop? Don't you know that you are supposed to drink the whole bottle when you open it? ;)

Ahh, what a terrible sight to see... but, you will be back! :)

Um.....hello? I live ten minutes from you....there was no reason to pour that out. Remember me? Still not pregnant, still drinking wine! You should know better. Pregnancy really has stolen your mind.:)

Maybe you can hit Starbucks and the liquor store both on the way home from the hospital~~better yet, on the way TO the hospital so you are prepared for the first night home, LOL!

Today may be the first day your blog made me shed a tear.

melissa o September 3, 2009 10:56 PM

Wait. So you're not allowed to drink AT ALL when your pregnant? Count me out. ;)

A great reason to give up wine!

Heather D. September 4, 2009 9:12 AM

FYI
Next time you have red wine that you can't drink pour it into a bath. There are tons of antioxidents in the wine and it's so good for your skin. Also, who doesn't love a purple bath!! :)

Sad...to see a bottle of good wine go to waste, but you have a good reason. You need to find some good recipes that include wine, so on the off chance you have leftovers again (I never do in my house) you can cook with it. :)

That is so sad. Check out fre merlot by Sutter Home. It is non-alcholic...it tastes a little like grape juice...but it feels nice to have a glass of red stuff in your hand.

I'm with Melissa O! ;) LOL - this is too funny!

So sad! But I know the feeling - I am 18 weeks pregnant tomorrow and miss wine more then anything else. But there is HOPE! Ariel winery in Napa makes non-alcoholic wine that is pretty close to the real thing and definitely a good replacement. I was able to find it at my local wine shop. Here's the link

@sue--Hi and welcome! I like pretty much everything when it comes to wine (except the pink stuff). And I tend to stick with cheap wine since I drink so much of it! (Or I should say since I drank so much of it!)

@Beth--Sorry sweetie! It was one of those "if I can't have you, NO ONE CAN!" moments. Things aren't pretty when I'm bitter.

@Karen--Ooh, I sure hope so!

@Anonymous--I like the way you think, lol!

*Passes kleenex to Kim* I know sweetie. *sniffle* Me too.

@Heather D--Thanks for the tip. That doesn't stain your tub or skin? I'm surprised!

@SAB--I've hear the Fre non-alcoholic wines aren't bad. I'll have to check that out.

@d'be--Thanks for the recommendation--I'll look for that one, too!
