September 28-October 4
Twenty-six weeks and our little girl is growing strong! She is approximately 9 inches long from crown to rump, and weighs about 2 pounds. The big baby development news this week is that her eyes are starting to open! I wish I could offer her a better view in there–I imagine my colon and bladder aren’t all that scenic.
I had a prenatal appointment on Monday and am measuring right on track at 26 weeks and the baby’s heart rate is 153 bpm. I also had my glucose test and since I haven’t heard from the doctor’s office I’m assuming everything looks good. (They said they would only contact me if I need to retest, and if there are no concerns they’ll just update me at my next appointment.) I have to admit I was a little concerned about the glucose test after The Whores surprised me with an amazing candy-themed baby shower last weekend. I spent the entire weekend indulging in my favorite Nerds candy–eating WAY more sugar than I ever normally would–until I realized, “Uh-oh, I have my glucose test on Monday!” Other than my anxiety over my Nerds overdose, the test wasn’t that bad. The drink wasn’t as terrible as I thought it would be and I managed to stay conscious during the dreaded blood draw, so that’s a good thing.
Baby G&D continues to be incredibly active, which I love. G has finally seen my belly move from the strength of her kicks which was so much fun! He was playing some more music for her (Styx) and she started kicking away, which in turn had my belly pulsing strongly. I’ve also noticed that she is incredibly reassuring with her movements. Overall I’ve been pretty positive and upbeat about my pregnancy, but whenever I read, see, or hear about sad baby-related news I can’t help but think of the things that could go wrong. As soon as I let that worry start creeping in, our little girl starts kicking and moving away as if to tell me, “I’m okay! No worries!” Her timing is always remarkable and very much appreciated.
A lot of you have asked about her nursery, so I will tell you that it’s coming along slowly but surely! I’ve been too busy (or too tired) to work on it over the past few weeks, but over the weekend I was able to pick it back up again and I’m really excited about how it’s coming along. I hope to have it finished by the end of this month and will post pictures at that time, so stay tuned!

I can’t WAIT to see the nursery!
Mmm, Nerds! I remember having a Nerds Blizzard when I was pregnant with my son. I’m still waiting for that Blizzard to make a comeback.
Can’t wait to see the nursery! Happy decorating!
Hope you’ve been enjoying the nursery: picking everything out, decorating, etc. I don’t blame you one bit for taking your time with it – you are growing a baby!
Did you keep the paint color the same (from when it was a spare room)? When we redid our second spare room we (lots of wallpaper removal) we painted with the plans of using it as a nursery. We figured it would save time and money (although it’s a cheap fix, if need be).
Have a great week!
Oh my goodness I just happened upon your blog because I google ” shrimp recipe” LOVE it, your blog that is. I’m trying the shrimp tonight.
I going to have to put this blog in my favorites, I love it!
Thanks for the inspiration and good luck with your pregnancy.
Laura
I am excited to see what you do with the nursery and i still can’t believe you are 26 weeks along! Time sure does fly.
Thanks for your comments everyone!
@K*OS–Mmm…a Nerds blizzard sounds AMAZING!
@blondie–When we moved into this house we knew that room would be the nursery someday, so I painted it a neutral color thinking I was being all smart and planning ahead b/c it would work for a nursery and I wouldn’t have to repaint. But…then I got pregnant…and all hormonal…and found out we were having a girl, and suddenly a gender neutral nursery just wasn’t going to cut it! So yeah, I totally painted over it–my hormones just couldn’t help themselves!
@Laura Davis–Welcome, and thanks so much for your sweet comment! Hope you liked the shrimp!
