October 26-November 1
Thirty weeks and our little girl is growing bigger by the day! She now weighs in at over 3 pounds and measures approximately 17 inches from head to toe. The big baby developmental news lately is her brain which is growing smarter by the minute! I am also growing bigger by the day, but unlike our little fetus genius, my brain continues to get stupider and stupider by the minute. (Oh yeah, I said “stupider.” Have I proved my point?)
We had our 30 week prenatal appointment this week and everything is looking good! The baby’s heart rate is 148 bpm and my blood pressure was 100/50. Luckily I haven’t had any more lightheadedness since my recent fainting incident, so even though my blood pressure remains low my doctor wasn’t concerned. I also got my seasonal flu shot and my H1N1 flu shot at this appointment–a date with two needles, and I didn’t even flinch. Yay for me!
Here are my current pregnancy stats:
Total weight gain: 19 pounds
Belly circumference: 40.5″
Stretch marks: None
Belly button: In
Swelling: None
Heartburn: None
Varicose veins/skin tags/other horrors: None
Overall comfort level: Good
My weight gain has been in overdrive these past few weeks, which would be okay if it was healthy weight gain, but I know for a fact this is binging on cinnamon rolls, candy corn, and Nerds every afternoon weight gain. I need to do a better job of not turning to the sweets every 3pm!
I’m continuing to adjust to this growing belly which has been interesting. One adjustment is I can no longer bend at the waist because…well…it’s gone. If–heaven forbid–I have to bend over to pick something up it requires this ass out/pelvic bend/squat maneuver. It’s very graceful and attractive. Rolling over has also been quite the ordeal. These days the decision of whether or not to change sleeping positions from my right side to my left side takes more consideration than my outfit choice, Starbucks order, and what to make for dinner–combined. I have to reealllly be sure the rollover effort is worth it. I typically base this decision on how many more hours of sleep I have ahead of me. Two a.m.? Let the great roll begin. Five a.m.? Forget about it. Who needs feeling in their left arm anyway?
It amazes me that I’m at 30 weeks already–only 10 more (give or take) to go!

Congrats on another great week! Not much longer
You are cracking me up with the rolling over comment. I use to tell my husband to go get a fork lift and roll me over. You seriously have to throw your belly over and then you just end up sweating! My little one is 12 weeks old and it took me a few weeks to remember that it didn’t take an act of god for me to roll over anymore.
Wait, what? 30 weeks?!?!
:drama
I lol’d at “fetus genius.” Funny!
So jealous of your lack of heartburn! I can’t even eat pop tarts or cereal without having to track down the tums jar a few minutes later! And at 26 weeks I can already relate to the rolling over thing… sooo not looking forward to that getting harder in the weeks to come! I read somewhere that some women sleep upright in a recliner in their last month – that might have to be me!
You’re at 30 weeks already? Wow, time flies! I had my daughter at 37 weeks so you never know. That 10 weeks might be shorter than you think…hopefully not longer.
Thanks for your comments everyone!
@K*OS–Eek! I hope I don’t go early! We’re not ready yet. We still need a ton of stuff, and I need to finish the nursery, and we still need to choose a pediatrician, and finish birthing classes, and install car seats, and pack a hospital bag, and on and on and on. I may need another 9 months, lol!
I didn’t choose our pediatrician until we were in the hospital- what was I thinking?- but the nurses were really great with helping us choose. I am so happy with our dr. As for packing your bag, you won’t need NEAR what you think!
Don’t you worry, you’ll be ready. Even if you think you have tons of stuff you still have to do, you’ll be ready. Everything somehow comes together and falls into place regardless of how much planning you do!
How have you managed to avoid the stretch marks? What is your secret? Do tell!
@Julie–Thanks for the tip! I tend to overpack, so that’s good to hear.
@K*OS–Thanks for the encouraging words! I hope you’re right! š
@Ele–I have no clue! With as big as my belly is I am truly shocked that I don’t have a belly full of stretch marks yet. I just know they’re coming though–just a matter of time!
you may get lucky and escape the strech marks, but what I hated about this stage of pregnancy and on is that underwear were so darn uncomfortable!! Seem’s like all they do is roll down and bunch up under the belly~~then when the baby “drops” it is worse, UGH!! Good luck with keeping the strech marks at bay!!
