November 2-November 8
Thirty-one weeks and Baby G&D is still as active as ever! The other day I was in the bathroom putting on makeup and she kicked me so hard–right at the spot where my belly was leaning up against the sink–that she literally pushed my entire body back away from the sink a few inches! It was so surprising! Most of her movements these days, however, feel more like big rolls and lurching as she moves from one side of my belly to the other. She kicks and moves so often that I was thinking it would be neat to try to keep count how many times I feel her move in one day, but it would be a full time job! We’d easily be in the hundreds before lunch. Because she’s so active I’m not even bothering with tracking kick counts (something they recommend you start doing at 28 weeks to ensure the baby is moving at least 10 times an hour twice a day) at this point. It would almost be easier to track the amount of time that she’s not moving!
Something else that’s so neat is I can actually feel her body from the outside of my belly now. Earlier this week I was rubbing my belly at a spot where she was moving and bumping and all of a sudden my belly went from feeling soft in that spot to feeling really hard. I felt around it and realized that small hard mass was the baby! I lightly pressed on it and doing so made her move in a bit, but then she quickly nuzzled herself right back to that spot so I could feel her again. I was having so much fun being able to feel her and interact with her, but then I stopped once I thought, “Oh no! What if this is her head, and not her butt like I assumed? I’m probably giving her brain damage!” I guess if our little girl doesn’t make the honor roll she can blame her mom. (If it’s not one thing, it’s your mother–right?)
This week’s birthing class was the beginning of the “caring for your newborn” segment, and I just have to say that watching G change a diaper for the first time (using a fake plastic baby) was one of the funniest things I’ve seen in a long time! I had every intention of being nothing but supportive, but when he couldn’t get the back of the diaper up as high as he wanted, he FLIPPED THE BABY OVER ONTO IT’S FACE so he could adjust the back–and that’s when I lost it. I started laughing so hard that I can’t believe I wasn’t asked to leave the classroom. When G finished the diaper change HE HIGH-FIVED THE BABY’S PLASTIC HAND, which made me laugh so uncontrollably I literally had tears rolling down my cheeks! I was surely being judged by all the other moms-to-be who were of course being perfect partners for their spouses–but they just don’t have a husband as funny as mine!
And last but not least, here’s a 31 week belly shot–both with the belt, and without for all my belt haters out there.
I’m an equal opportunity blogger.

You are looking fabulous (belt or no belt)!
I would have reacted the same as you did with that diaper change
That’s just too funny!
Haha that diaper change sounds like it was hilarious to watch! Very cool story about feeling the baby moving around — I can’t wait for that!
I never commented the other day about the whole belt drama, but I personally LOVE it… you are confident and I love that! ‘Atta girl! š
You look great! I think the belt fits with this outfit for sure. I just announced on my blog that we’re expecting too!
For the record – love the belt with that outfit!!
I think the belt looks great. Plus, it really defines your fantastic pregnancy milk-makers. (too much?)
You pull off the belt. It makes you look slimmer – even while pregnant!
Ha! G sounds like a hoot! He’ll love being a daddy!
And, I love the belt with that shirt. just sayin’
you look fabulous, with and without the belt!
g sounds like my hubby! be forewarned, when they learn to roll, you may be flipping the baby back over during diaper changes! don’t worry, they’re pretty resilient! š
LOVE the belt!! lovely
This belt looks better, maybe cuz it is thinner. This one looks like it is seperating the boobage and belly rather than holding the boobage up and the belly down~~Is this a regular shirt or maternity??
The diaper change story is too cute! B did the same thing with the car seat when we were putting it together…tipped it upside down! Oops!
I love the belt, but I love the face you’re making int he picture without the belt even more! š Now, come on D! When do we get to see some nursery pics? Some of us ARE living vicariously through you, you know!
I have to admit that I questioned some of your belt choices previously. But, seeing it from this side angle has totally won me over! I think its very cute especially with the bump, so keep on rockin’ the belt!!
Loving the skinny belt with this look – def. better with than without. (I think the width of the belt makes the difference for me.)
I too was one of the belt haters before, but this time I LOVE it!
Glad you gave a belt/no belt pic with this one. I, personally, love all of your belted outfits, and think this one looks expecially cute WITH the belt! Without it you shirt gets all wonky, and you’ve got to accentuate your perfect baby bump! Glad to hear Baby is doing well, and I can’t wait to see the nursery!
Gorgeous as always D!
Personally, I think belt is needed! I think it really makes that outfit!
Can’t believe she pushed you away from the sink… that’s CRAZY!!!!
That is so funny about Greg!!!! I would have been laughing my butt off, too! I can’t believe you only have a couple months left! Love reading how everything is progressing – it brings back memories of when my boys were in utero!
D–
I LOVE the belt look on you. I think the haters are jealous b/c it probably doesn’t look was good on them. I like the fact that it shows you are all belly–all future mother hope to look this good when they are pregnant!!!
~Crystal
P.S. Laughing hysterically at G flipping the baby over. I could see Vince doing that someday!!
I love the belt – you keeping on rocking it!
Thanks for your comments everyone! After last week I thought for sure my belly bump pictures would be greeted with another 50 comments saying, “DAMMIT DUSTY, WE TOLD YOU WE HATED YOUR BELTS! STOP WEARING THEM ALREADY!!” so I have to admit I’m pleasantly surprised to read that I’ve actually converted some of you! I guess I should have shown you the side view sooner!
@Windy City Kelley’s–Congratulations on your pregnancy! That’s so exciting! Best wishes to you for a happy and healthy 9 months!
OMG Erin–that made me LOL!
@Anonymous–Love your use of the word “boobage”, lol! This is a regular shirt. It’s one of those “tissue tees” from Target.
@Amber–Thanks! That’s my sourpuss face for all my belt haters out there, hehee! And I’m so sorry I’ve been such a slacker with the nursery! I’m beginning to think I’ll NEVER finish it! I’ve just been either too busy or too tired to finish up my last few projects. But I promise I won’t leave you hanging forever!
I am an anonymous belt hater!!
Looking good! I love your belts and who cares what the haters say??!! You look great!
I think you look great both ways and I love that you’re looking at the camera this time! You have a beautiful face – don’t hide it!
@Anonymous–That’s okay; we can still be friends! š
Thanks Carla!
@Cara–Thanks–that’s so sweet of you to say! One of my anonymous commenters asked me a few posts ago why I always looked away from the camera. I didn’t realize I did that so much, so I’m trying to make more of an effort to look straight on sometimes. Glad you like it!
I don’t know..from the side I like it. It defines the boobsicles a little more (which, is weird to say but COME ON. Greg appreciates it.)
