There’s really nothing remarkable about this outfit, but I thought I’d share it anyway to show you my maternity sweater. It’s the only maternity sweater I have, so it sees A LOT of action.

Pregnancy: 35 weeks
Maternity sweaters are a tricky thing in my opinion. By the time you need one you’re on the back-end of your pregnancy, which also means that you tend to feel warmer than usual. Even in this freezing Wisconsin winter I’ve found that I’m usually more warm than I am cold. But earlier in my pregnancy the idea of NOT having a maternity sweater to wear once winter hit was just too much for me to grasp. I thought I’d be in big, thick, cozy turtlenecks all winter long, so as soon as the first maternity sweater hit Gap.com in early fall, I snatched it up. And I’m so glad I did! For a sweater, this is remarkably lightweight. Anything thicker or heavier would be way too warm for me.
When the winter clothes hit the stores I bought a couple more maternity sweaters but ended up returning them because they were much thicker and I knew instantly that I would overheat in them no matter how cold it got outside.
For the most part I’d recommend layering cardigans over maternity tops to regulate your pregnancy body temperature. But if you’re looking for a maternity sweater my tip is to try to hit up the fall sweater sales versus the winter sweaters–and most of all, make sure it’s nice and lightweight!

you look so freaking adorable! And you should have the baby on Sunday……..what a cool birthdate: 01-10-10!!
Good to know, hopefully I’ll get pregnant this cycle and be due in October so I’ll just be getting into sweaters around that time. I keep hearing how hard it is to be pregnant in the summer though so I’m a little afraid of that. Thank goodness we live near lakes!
Still no baby, huh? She must just be comfy in there
Glad to hear everything is still going well. I’m in “countdown mode” at almost 36 weeks and can’t wait to hear how everything goes for you!!
You look so adorable. I love it. Soon you will see the amazing way your body will adapt to support your baby’s growing needs. I have rock star arms these days from the constant picking up and carting around of my 9 month old 20 pound chunkster.
Good luck, and again, I heart your blog :)!
Dusty, you are just too cute! I can’t wait to see that baby girl!
You are so right! I have a few light weight sweaters, but layering has been the best way to go. It’s weird that I’m usually hot and my husband is freezing.
you always look great no matter what you have on.
You look adorable — so perfectly pregnant chic! You were smart to get that sweater — I have a gap maternity cardi that’s lightweight and I’ve worn it to death as well.
Thanks everyone! And nope, no baby yet–but hopefully soon!
Hi d!
I keep checking you blog everyday thinking: “she had the baby!!” but no…
BTW, I am rooting for sunday 10th too. best of luck and take care!
I’m thinking of you ALL the time…like pretty much every breath is partnered with the thought “I wonder if D is going into labor RIGHT NOW…”
Needless to say…I know that any second it’s gonna happen and when it does, you are gonna take a deep breath and then be the most beautiful girl in the history of laboring girls. And we will all be jealous and curse you for it. Of course, we’ll immediately forgive you when you share your little baby girl with us
Praying for you…XO – KB
Awww, thanks Anonymous and Katie–you are both so sweet! I hope to have some big news for you all soon!!
