New Year’s Resolution

January 1, 2010 By Dusty Rogers 14 Comments

I am happy to report that I successfully met my 2009 Resolutions!

You all know about my first one, which was to run 400 miles in 2009–a goal I’m thrilled to have achieved last September. And my second resolution–which I didn’t share with you all at the time–was to get pregnant. Mission accomplished!

Now it’s time to set some new resolutions for 2010. Here’s what I’m hoping to accomplish this year:

  1. Give birth to this baby.
  2. Survive the first year of parenting without making any major mistakes that would permanently scar our daughter for life, leading to her one day becoming a stripper, a contestant on a VH1 reality show, or a Republican.*
  3. Run 400 miles. Yep, I decided to do another running goal this year! I also decided to keep my goal mileage at 400 since it will likely be March before I can even start running again, plus I have no idea how it’s going to work fitting this into raising a newborn–but I’m certainly going to try!

So there you have it–my 2010 New Year’s Resolutions. I’m not sure which of these 3 will be the hardest, but I’ll soon find out! What are your resolutions for 2010?

*Apologies to my Republican friends; I just couldn’t resist the joke! I love me some Republicans–hell, I even married one!

Good for you with the running! My resolutions are as follows:

    1. Ditch the iPhone and get a regular phone. Don’t depend on technology as much! (Check!)

    2. Lose 15-20lbs 4 months after I quit breastfeeding.

    3. Spend less.

    4. Give more.

    5. Work out 4 times a week for at least 30 minutes. (It is hard with a little one, but it can be done!)

    6. Get organized!

Happy New Year! Your blog was one of my favorite discoveries of 2009.

In the words of Chris Rock, “I mean, they don’t grade fathers. But if your daughter’s a stripper, you f’d up.”

Just blogged about my resolutions, too. I think my favorite is Eat More Cupcakes. :)

    Congrats, and Happy New Year!
My goals for 2010 are simple –

Help others as much as possible to be successful.
Create tangible memories for my clients.
    Be a fantastic husband.

    Cheers,
    E

You cracked me up 11 hours into the new year – love it! Anywhooo…I am a runner, but never really keep track (and hence, slack nicely at times). You have inspired me to set a running goal and log the miles. My thighs thank you.

Here’s to keeping our babies-to-come far from the dangers of reality shows and right wing-ism!

I just set my running goal – 50 miles a month. That gives me some slack room during some weeks but will *hopefully* force me to kick things up a notch a different week. We’ll see how it goes. I don’t usually set resolutions, but it feels good to have fitness goals. :)

…now, with that said, if we happen to conceive this year, I will need to adjust that goal which is part of the reason I don’t like to consider it a resolution since then I feel like I failed somehow…

    Happy New Year!

I hope all your goals are met except the one about the GOP. May she pick the right side and I hope your hubby stays right too. :)
Can’t wait to find out the baby’s name. Good luck!

    1) remain a liberal Dem
    2) give up lattes and eating lunch out
    3) start drinking green tea
    4) with all the money saved on lattes and lunches, hire a housekeeper

    Happy New Year! Hooray twenty-ten!

Thanks prettygreengirl–that’s so sweet of you to say! And I like your cupcake goal, lol!

@Laura–Ooh, I like the TV viewing goal. We’re hoping to significantly limit our TV viewing time, too. Good luck!

@jbhat–I love the housekeeper goal. Good for you!
