For years G has said, “We’re going to New York City for our 10 year anniversary.”
For years that seemed like years away – but not anymore! We celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary later this month, and last week this former farm girl saw the big city for the first time. We had a fantastic time and I’ll be sharing more about that soon, but first here’s a look back at the rest of our September!
September 7: Kate and I spent a fabulous Mommy/Daughter day in downtown Madison, beginning with a stroll through the Farmer’s Market to purchase our favorite local goodies, and flowers for Grandma. Then we had a popcorn picnic on the lawn of the State Capitol, followed by a hunt for acorns and a game of chase through the trees. Pretty much the perfect day, and certainly a wonderful start to our September!
September 8: I met my newest nephew Eli on this day! G’s sister Lesley, her husband Ben, and baby Eli live in Seattle and this was their first family trip to Wisconsin. Eli was a total champ on the flight and just as cute and sweet as could be. We can’t wait to see this precious little guy again soon!
September 9: After a nice little summer break, Kate started back at gymnastics class (and swimming lessons later in the week). So far both classes are going great and she’s having a blast!
September 14: G and I enjoyed a much-needed Date Night, starting with a stroll up and down Madison’s historic State Street and around the Capitol (with stops into pubs here and there), dinner at the Great Dane – a great little local restaurant and brewery – and then tickets to Kathy Griffin’s stand up show at the Overture. All that, AND we managed to make it til midnight!
Oh yeah…we’ve still got it.
September 15: We’ve been seeing the trailer for the new Planes movie ever since we purchased the Cars movie for Kate 2 years ago, and now we finally got to see it! It was such a cute movie, but I think G and Kate thought the funniest part of it all was that the main plane was named “Dusty.” (Usually I share my name with dogs, so I’m going to go ahead and consider a crop duster a step up.)
September 23: My birthday! We had a quiet, lovely little celebration at home. Kate picked out a purple ice cream cake and crayon candles for the occasion. (I think she thought it was her birthday.)
September 28: Grandma Pam’s birthday! We celebrated with a fun little family day and overnight before G and I left for NYC. On top of everything she does for us, Pam also cared for Kate during our trip, beginning on her birthday night. This is a woman who deserves to be celebrated!!
September 29: G and I arrive in NYC! We spent our first day exploring the Chelsea neighborhood where we stayed – more on this coming soon!
September 30: Our 2nd day in NYC – details coming soon!
I hope you are all enjoying a wonderful start to your October!
