It’s In the Bag

June 5, 2009 By Dusty Rogers 19 Comments

Want to take a peek inside my handbag?

Here’s what I’ve been carrying around in my huge Coach tote this week:

And here’s the breakdown:

  1. My Invisalign (invisible braces) case which holds my aligner when I take it out to eat. Someday I will have straight teeth!
  2. A Sephora “Beauty Insider” rewards card I signed up for the other day.
  3. My pocket planner where I keep track of our personal events and activities.
  4. Two empty bottles of water, 1 empty bottle of V8 Splash, and 1 full bottle of water. I don’t typically carry this much fluid around with me, but I had a meeting that afternoon at a place where I know there’s no water fountain and only soda in their soda machine. I need my water, so I was sure to stock up for the afternoon! I threw the empty water bottles back in my bag because I like to reuse them, and I tossed the empty V8 bottle back in my bag because there were no recycling bins at this place either!
  5. My aviator sunglasses, which I am absolutely convinced will get me out of a speeding ticket someday. One look at me in those bad boys and I’m positive the officer pulling me over will think I’m one of them.
  6. My new Victoria’s Secret perfumed ring that I wore about a week ago and then tossed in my bag when I went to the gym. It hasn’t found it’s way back to the jewelry holder yet.
  7. My appointment book for work, some files, a pad of paper, and a pen. As you read in #4, I had a work meeting to attend and I love that everything I need to carry with me can easily fit in this tote.
  8. A granola bar–don’t leave home without one!
  9. Comb.
  10. Assorted lip glosses (that I never wear) and my plain old Burt’s Bees lip balm which I apply hourly.
  11. Wallet.
  12. Checkbook.
  13. Keys.
  14. A solid perfume compact of SJP’s Covet fragrance.
  15. Purse hook.
  16. Some spare bobby pin, a nail file, and a moist towelette. You just never know when you’re going to need these things!
  17. Hand lotion.
  18. A recipe for chicken enchiladas that I cut out of a magazine at my in-law’s house, and completely forgot about until I dumped out my bag. Guess I know what’s for dinner tonight!
  19. Some brochures I grabbed for work.
  20. Cover Girl pressed powder compact–another thing I don’t leave home without! I usually keep one in every bag, one in my car, and one at the office, but two found their way into this bag which means I must be short somewhere else.
  21. A notepad where I keep all sorts of lists and notes–my grocery list, songs I want to download to my iPod, measurements of different areas of the house in case I come across that perfect thing, etc.
  22. A little Coach wristlet which was a gift from my sister-in-law. It’s currently empty, but I often carry it around with me in case I want to leave my bag and just toss a few items in this. Sometimes I use it to hold coupons, sometimes I corral all my lip gloss in it. It’s basically just a little catch-all for whatever I need.
  23. Some spare change swimming around the bottom of my bag.
  24. My cell phone.

And there you have it–a look inside my life bag!

    What a great post!!!

I love seeing all the stuff everyone else is carrying around – bc ALL of my bags are big and usually full!!

I was wondering if I could email with you about invisilign and get your opinion on the whole process and everything. If you check out my last post you will see I’m not the best patient but I really am ready for straight and healthy teeth!!

    Thanks so much!! :) elisabethpeale@gmail.com

First I want to say I love that Coach bag. I’ve been wanting one for awhile now but I just can’t justify spending that kind of money.

Second, I’m glad I’m not the only one that has a lot of stuff in her bag.

    Great post!

I swear it looks like you dumped out my purse! I always have my Coach wristlet (also a gift from my sister-in-law) inside my bag, alongside my wallet. It has come in handy so many times.

Love this post! I also have about four lip glosses and never wear them. I’m a (addicted to) chapstick kind of girl.

wow, you have a full bag! It always happen to me when I switch to one of my larger bags and whenever I carry a smaller (i.e. normal) one it is always stuffed full.

Love the wallet, I need one like that with easy access to my cards!

I’m super interested in your Invisalign experience! How long have you had them? What are the disadvantages (if any) in your opinion? Would you recommend them? I am seriously considering getting them but having a hard time deciding. I’d love to hear from someone who’s my age and has a similar lifestyle :) Thanks!

    Thanks everyone!

@Lis–Sorry I’m so late to respond! I’m emailing you right now regarding Invisalign. Hope I can answer any questions you may have!

@christel–I got this bag at Coach Outlet, which was a significant savings from it’s full price. I can’t remember the exact numbers, but I think I saved about 50% buying it from the outlet. Hope that helps in your quest for Coach!

@Lisa–that’s such a coincidence that your wristlet was a gift from your sister-in-law, too! These wristlets are such a great gift idea. I recently bought one for my best friend’s 30th birthday and she loved it!

@Windy City Kelley’s–what IS is about hoarding lip gloss but never wearing it?? I have no idea why I do this!

@Jessica–thanks! I like that it’s so small and I can easily grab it and toss it into whichever bag I’m carrying that day. It’s pretty handy!

@Avery–I’ve had Invisalign for about 2 years now I think. I really like it, but it’s definitely a slower treatment than braces (especially for me since I’ve needed a few “course corrections” which has made it longer). I’m almost finished with them now and I’m really happy with the results, and would recommend them. I’m way too vain to handle traditional braces at my age, lol! I know Lis has some questions she’ll be emailing me too, so maybe I’ll do a blog post on this in the near future which will hopefully answer any questions you might have. Feel free to email me too, if you’d like. My email address is allthingsgd (at) yahoo (dot) com.

@Sarah K–Yep, with our Wisconsin weather I don’t leave home without it!
