G+D=K

June 16, 2010 By Dusty Rogers 31 Comments

Here’s a little something I recently realized:

G (my husband’s first initial) is the 7th letter of the alphabet.
D (my first inital) is the 4th letter of the alphabet.

7+4=11

And guess what the 11th letter of the alphabet is: K, for Kate!

So G+D=K.

Neat, huh? How do your initals work out?

There’s no math in this one, but my daughter’s name is Abby, my son is Ben, and my husband and my name both start with “C”. Yes, ABC. We inadvertently started the alphabet with our family!

That’s so neat! My ex-boyfriend and I had this weird thing where our initials of our first names spelled his full initials, and our first initials of our last names spelled my full initials. So, his initials are BM and mine are MN. But B and M make BM, and M and N make MN. I have no idea how I figured that out!

That’s crazy! We’re B&S which is U – so not the most versitle letter… haha – although his first name really starts with an R, and R&S would not equal a letter – oh well!

But here’s our crazy coincidence story – 23 is a weirdly important number in our family – at the very least its my birthday, grandparents 1st date, stepfathers birthday, and without him realizing it, the day B proposed! Well, long after picking our wedding date, 9-5-9, I realized those numbers equal 23. Freaked me out for like a day. :)

And… in an effort to really freak me out, I just figured out that our “dating anniversary” 12-5-6, also equals 23. Uhh.. now I think I’m really freaked out…

I love that! My husband I are C&D, 3+4. No kids yet, but my favorite girls name starts with G. 7. Coincidence? Now I have even more reason to convnce my husband that that’s what we’re naming our first daughter :)

My husband and I are J & K, after naming our first born Lillian, we realized we named her in Alphabetical order, J,K and L. So when Number 2 came along, we knew we had to keep it going and named him Maxwell. JKLM. Our address labels are hilarious.

I just found your blog and it is hilarious! I am pregnant and due in September, so I love your pregnancy posts. I just read the one about your cravings and now I really want pancakes (and I am the exact same way because they always seem like a chore to make so I’ll put it off and then be pissed because I am hungry.) I am really looking forward to reading more of your posts!

We are S&T, so 19+20. That equals 39, so here’s what I’m thinking. We could either go through the alphabet twice and end up at 13–M, or add 3+9=12 and end up at L. Neither one works for my planned B name, but still a fun game. :-)

Funny! Ours works out similarly, much to my surprise:

    J/John = 10
    S/Sherry = 19

    10+19=29

So, if by going over 26 that means you start over again we get a 3 (29-26=3).

3 = C which happens to work out just right for our newly born Clara!

My math teacher father-in-law is going to die over this. Thanks for sharing it!

    K (me) + M (hubby) = 24

Use X as the first initial for our little girl would have been very difficult. I can’t think of a single X name actually.

This was really cute! Ours are B+T=V..my (current) last name starts with V and I always thought about using that as part of a baby name to ‘keep it around’ after I get married and change my name..no boys on my side with that last name means it won’t last long.

well ours isn’t about math but our monogram is JGA (husband is the J, I am the A) our first boy will be JGA-J first name, A middle name, G last name. So his monogram will be the same as our wedding monogram! Crazy!

I can’t get mine to work out to anything but this is a fun game.

    S (me) – 19
    M (boyfriend) – 13
    total – 32

    So, if by going over 26 then I go around again, 32-26 = 6. 6 = F. I don’t have anything F.

Too bad our initials don’t work out to 8 for H, which is our dog, Hamlet.

Well it doesn’t work for our son (Avery) or the twins on the way (who will probably be Evelyn and Oliver), but it does work for our dog. :)

    S/Stacy = 19
    K/Keith = 11

    19 + 11 = 30
    30 – 26 = 4

4 is D, and our Great Dane is Derby. Poor neglected kids, lol.

    SO CUTE!

    Ours are:

    S(Husband)= 19
    A(Me)= 1

Our daughter is S (19 also)

    So 19+1=20…which would be T…
    nothing cool. Boo!

I was told there wouldn’t be any math. Plus we have two kiddos, so it would probably have to turn into a frightfully complex story problem, and those are the worst!

Nice observation and the funny thing is that it works for me too.

    A (me) + D (hubby) = E (our son)
    1+4=5

Thanks for the Saturday Morning smile :)
