Today, my sweet little girl turns 5 years old.
It’s hard to believe that many years, days, hours and minutes have passed since I first held Kate in my arms. The first time I saw her I burst into tears from all the love and joy and pride I felt over being her mom. I remember sitting in her nursery after we brought her home from the hospital and rocking her in my arms, the tears spilling down my cheeks from all that love I felt just looking at her.
About a week ago, Kate and I were having a fun afternoon cooking in the kitchen, and I turned to her and said, “I really love doing things with you in the kitchen!”
“Me too!” she said cheerfully.
“And I love YOU even more.” I added, kissing the top of her head.
“I love you, too,” Kate replied.
And then a moment later she added, “Even when I was a baby I loved you very much.”
Five years later and those tears are still spilling down my cheeks.
Happy birthday, baby girl.

Me and Kate, the day we left the hospital.
Happy Happy Birthday Kate!
Be still my heart! You and Kate are so blessed to have one another, Dusty. You are an incredible momma, and it’s been so fun to watch your adventures together as a family. I love Kate’s care and concern over things, and her inquisitive nature. You and G have done a wonderful job as parents to promote her individuality. Happy birthday, Kate!
GET OUT! Kate is FIVE ??? Wow where did the time go, I remember when she was born! But as you know I’ve been reading your blog since you bought 40 something throw pillows in a day…. Happy Birthday to your sweet girl!

Kate
The HAPPIEST of happy 5th birthdays to Kate! I have enjoyed so much watching you grow, and wish nothing but fun and healthy birthdays to come!
This just choked me up! My ‘baby’ turned two last month. It is going way too fast! I have to admit that it will be fun when we can make things in the kitchen together, though. Right now, she is too busy running around with that amazing toddler energy.
Have a great day!
I think this will always happen every year! I still tear up ever year I bring them to school the first day, and mine are 8 and 9!
