…that time a reporter called me to chat, and I assumed she was writing for a small local paper, but it actually turned out to be The New York Times.

It was such a thrill to see mine and Kate’s mother/daughter “barn quilt hunting” road trips mentioned in The New York Times! I was contacted by the author, Jackie Snow, about a week ago after she saw our photos on Instagram, and she wanted to interview me to learn more about how (and why) Kate and I started this annual tradition. It was such a fun and neat little surprise!
The article is available online now and prints in The New York Times paper this Sunday.
Here’s a look back at our first barn quilt road trip adventure in 2017 via @allthingsgd on Instagram:

I’m so happy to see this beautiful art form, activity, and our friends up in Shawano County, Wisconsin (Jim & Irene Leuenbergers and the Shawano Country Chamber of Commerce) highlighted in such a major publication!

I hope more people take the time to unplug and enjoy this neat little road trip adventure. Kate and I are looking forward to our next one!

Very cool! Seeing the barn quilts on the way to my in-laws is one of my favorite parts of the drive. So glad you and Kate get this time together! I need to research if there’s a similar trail in Kentucky.
