Dear Genevieve

September 2, 2009 By Dusty Rogers 29 Comments

Dear Genevieve,
My good friend Mandy is so sweet and nice that I can’t believe she’s even friends with me. She is the mother of twin boys which means earlier this year they had to sell their charming–but sadly too small–home with a beautiful recently remodeled kitchen:

To move into a bigger, more family-friendly home with–sadly–this kitchen:

No need to adjust your computer screen–that’s really how it looks.

This poor kitchen has great bones, but is sadly outdated with cabinets that are falling apart, a stained countertop and sink, and nasty, yucky, carpet for the flooring. That’s right–you heard me. Carpet. Now I know you can’t turn your back on a house full of twin toddlers and a kitchen with carpet Genevieve!

And I’m hoping my wonderful blog readers can’t either! Please vote for my friend Mandy’s kitchen to receive a free makeover from HGTV designer Genevieve Gorder on her new show Dear Genevieve. To show your support all you need to do is CLICK HERE and give her kitchen a rating of 5 stars. It’s quick! It’s easy! And your vote will buy me at least one more curse word in Mandy’s presence before she realizes I’m probably a bad influence.

Thanks everyone!

Voted with 5 stars for your friend…and very much in agreement that she does need a kitchen overhaul. Best of luck to her!

I tried voting, but it kept saying I’ve “stumbled across a problem and to try again”. I will try again later.

Sorry. My previous post was riddled with spelling errors.

I voted for her, and by the 3 pages of comments on the site, it looks like everyone else is rooting for her as well! But I have to ask: WHERE did she find those fabulous retro kitchen accesories?! I’m swooning!

Amber…the blender is from Walmart believe it or not! The jadite cake stands are from antique shops and the measuring cups are from Anthropologie. :)

Katie…our old kitchen’s color was from Sherwin Williams and I believe it was called relaxed khaki.

D! I’ve missed you – and fallen off the face of the planet apparently. But had to comment (to all of your posts in one). You are the cutest pregnant lady ever, and those salty bars look phenomenal. And this kitchen totally deserves Dear Genevieve – but I’m LUSTING after her previous kitchen. White beadboard cabinets? Yes please!

My kitchen too had carpet when I first moved in. In fact the carpet started in the bathroom, moved into the hallway and ended in the kitchen. Within the first 3 months of living here, the carpet in the kitchen was replaced. Sadly it still lies in my bathroom.

That carpet is horrible. I guess I shouldn’t complain about the state of some of my rooms. I will keep my fingers crossed that GG comes through for your friend.
