Things Loved In July
1. S'mores

The G&D household kicked off this month with our annual 4th of July party which included one of my favorite treats--s’mores! I set up a s’mores stand in our backyard by the firepit and guests had their choice of honey or chocolate graham crackers, and Hershey’s milk chocolate or Reese’s peanut butter cups for their chocolate filling. Once the sun went down, G fired up the pit and we toasted marshmallows (I like mine burned to a crisp) and ate our s’mores while watching the fireworks show. Delicious!
2. Mosquito Repellent

My blood must taste like filet mignon for mosquitoes because those little bastards eat me alive the second I step outside! I hate being caught without bug spray so I was pretty excited to see that OFF! makes individually wrapped insect repellent towelettes that I can toss in my bag and have on hand wherever my skin goes. Take that little buggers!
3. Crocs
I cannot believe that I am the proud owner of a pair of Crocs. I have always hated these shoes! “But they’re so comfortable!” everyone would say in defense of their holey foam-wrapped feet. “I don’t care if it feels like walking on clouds,” I’d reply. “I’d never put something that ugly on my feet!”
Until now.
I was walking past a Crocs store earlier this month and curiosity got the better of me so I decided to go in--just to try them on and feel what all the fuss was about. There was no way in hell I was going to actually buy a pair...
Until I did.
These are the ones I got, and dammit, I love them:

4. My Girls Weekend Getaway!

Earlier this month I made a trip to the Twin Cities to visit my friend Allison, who lives there, and my friend Beth, who was in town from Alabama for a conference. It was my first weekend away from Kate, but who better to spend it with than two of my favorite Whores? We had a great time catching up, eating, drinking, exploring the city, dodging tornado warnings, and seeing Eclipse! Which brings me to...
5. Eclipse

FINALLY! After the first Twilight movie turning into the biggest letdown of my life, and the second one leaving me lukewarm, they finally got it right! I absolutely loved Eclipse. Loved it! Maybe it helped that my expectations were incredibly low and that I’ve had two movies to adjust to RP’s acting and the caked on vamp makeup--but hey, I’ll take it! And I’ll gladly see it again. And maybe even again...and again...

I'm a new reader, just thought I'd say hi!
I have said the same thing about crocs, but now I've seen 2 people wear the same ones you've bought and really don't know if I can go by the crocs store again without at least going in to try them on.
AGH, wait just a minute while I run out and make sure I'm inside the right blog. Did my fashion forward friend Dusty just admit to purchasing the exact same pair of Crocs that I've owned for two years now???
I think I'm dead.
PS, I'm so honored to make your list of All things loved....
I had a blast in Minneapolis!!!
You know, I'm not a huge sweets person, but the mere mention of s'mores makes me want to haul ass to a supermarket for the supplies. S'more with peanut butter cups? You, Dusty, are the smartest woman EVER.
AMEN to Eclipse. Loved it. Saw it three times- but don't tell anyone that. Everyone I saw it with thinks it was the first time ;)

Sorry, been following you for a long time, but can't stand the "whore" references to your friends. I know that you don't mean anything malicious, but it's just ugly to me. I guess I'm too old for this blog.
Good luck in the future to you and your family!
Skeeters love me too. Those wipes look genious! I need to get some.
@Anonymous--I'm sorry you took offense. I can understand where you're coming from and I'm sure I would have felt a similar way prior to when our group adopted this nickname. If it's any consolation, not all of my friends are Whores--only about a handful of them. :)
Omg those crocs saved my feet the last trimester!! I love them! And I am proud to be one of your whores. People need to lighten up and have a sense of humor. Love you!
I can't believe you fell for crocs! I did too -- I love my Crocband flats!

I had a great time in Minneapolis, thank you so much for spending your first weekend away from Kate with us! Can't wait to do it again!
i have those same crocs and LOVE THEM. i bought them last summer and have almost worn them out. i wear them every day. LOVE
Yummy S'mores. I as well like my marshmallows burnt.
ohemgee, PB cup smores!? i must try them this weekend!
and fwiw, i love being your whore :)
I own one pair of Crocs and they are in the same style you recently purchased. Mine are a light pink. I don't wear them often though. Maybe I'll dig them out of the back of my closet!
Happy to hear that Eclipse was much better than the first two. The first was really boring, and the second a bit better. Love my True Blood! ;)
Your comment to Anonymous is really funny!! I had to check back to see if you responded! :-)
(I'm a weirdo)
I never got Crocs either, but recently I threw my Aunt's croc flops on in Florida when I was visiting, and holy comfy! I like the ones you got, maybe I'll have to submit as well and get a pair!
Oh, s'mores. There is some commercial on TV right now advertising products for s'mores and it makes me drool! I want a fire pit for the sole purpose of making s'mores!
mmm I love smores! I have recently discovered chocolate vanilla swirl marshmallows, strawberry marshmallows and toasted coconut marshmallows so I ahve been giving all of those a whirl in smores. Different but quite tasty! I've been meaning to pick up a pair of those crocs lately, I have a pair of original that are only worn around the house that are amazing. It would be nice to have a pair that I allowed other people to see on my feet!
Whores, s'mores. What a croc.
I love it here!

I <3 s'mores and I felt the same way about Eclipse!! I thought the first 2 movies were "okay" and verging on cheesy but I chalked it up because I loved the books. But the third movie blew me away. I loved it so much and am now excited for the next 2 movies!
*ak
Oh my goodness, I have those exact same crocs in brown and I just adore them. I used to be embarrassed that I found a love for what I once despised, but there comes a time when comfort can be cute, and wins!
xoxo,
Jen
Thanks for your comments everyone!
@Allison--Those are so cute!
@June--I really need to check out True Blood. I've heard it's so good!
@Mrs.LifeAccounts--I hadn't heard about the flavored marshmallows, but they sound delicious! I'll have to check them out.
@jbhat--I think you might be my soul mate. If you're someone who lives like a block away from me, now's the time to speak up woman.
hmm you now have me considering Cors {something I never thought I'd do}...
Yesss Eclipse was amazing!! I've seen it at the theater twice and am tempted to see it again!
Serious question: Team Edward or Team Jacob?
@Lovely Little Nest--Team Edward all the way! (But sadly, not an RP fan.)
