February 2: I switched ATG&D from Blogger to WordPress – a change that hasn’t been without growing pains! Thank you so much for your patience as I fix broken links and reformat wonky blog posts. Once I get the hang of this new format, I’m excited for all the great features I’ll be able to add to my blog!
February 4: Kate and I went to my friend Jill’s house for a playdate with her kids Brady and Adi. Kate and the kids had so much fun “fishing” over the wall ledge and jumping in their indoor bouncy house!
February 7: Poor Kate comes down with a terrible fever, hacky cough, congestion and runny nose – a sickness that hung on for more than a week before she finally started feeling better.
February 10: Getting our sick girl out of the house for the first time in 5 days in hopes that a little bowling (one of her favorite activities) perks her up.
February 13: Kate and I assembled homemade Valentines for her daycare class. They’re little fish bowl print-outs that say “So glad we’re in the same school” placed in a bag with Goldfish crackers – they turned out so cute!
February 14: Valentine’s Day! I celebrated the two people I love most in life by giving G a “heart attack” (taping little heart-shaped love notes for him all over his bathroom, in the fridge, and in his car – pictures on my ATG&D Facebook page) and surprising Kate with a breakfast of cinnamon cookies that spelled out “MOMMY AND DADDY LOVE KATE.” G surprised me with a hot stone massage (my favorite!) and had flowers delivered to my office. G and I never used to really celebrate Valentine’s Day, but it’s been so much fun getting into the holidays now that we have Kate. She gets such a kick out of it, which gets us excited to celebrate too!
February 16: We took Kate to the circus and she and G got to ride on an elephant! Overall, Kate seemed pretty unimpressed with the circus (G and I didn’t care for it either; we were sad about the animals), but she did love her elephant ride at intermission! The only part of the circus she seemed truly interested in were the motorcycle and ATV stunts at the end of the show. I joked with G that I think she may be more of a “Monster Truck Show” kind of girl!
February 17: I took Kate to a model train show, and this she loved! We walked around ooh’ing and ahhh’ing over all of the miniature train displays, and going on “kiddie” train rides. It was such a fun afternoon!
February 18: G came home from work early to watch Kate on our “Momday” so I could enjoy the hot stone massage he surprised me with on Valentine’s Day. Love!
February 19: I picked Kate up from daycare and in her “take home” bin was her bunny, some art projects – and a pair of my underwear!! (I’m guessing they were hiding in her sleeping mat after it went through the wash.)
So.
Embarrassing.
Dear Teachers, Let’s agree to never mention my unmentionables, mmkay?
February 23: We took a mini family vacation to the Wisconsin Dells (a fun tourist town about an hour north of us) with two other families – our friends Andy & Deb and their two boys Anthony (age 9) and Carter (age 7), and our friends Todd & Robyn and their daughter Marit (age 6). We stayed at The Great Wolf Lodge which has a wonderful indoor waterpark, which we enjoyed on Day 1. By Day 2, however, Kate was waterparked out, so we shifted gears and played games in the arcade which she loved!
February 24th: We celebrated Marit’s 6th birthday during our group vacay with dinner at Buffalo Phil’s (a restaurant where they deliver your food and drinks to your table via a train – pics on my ATG&D Facebook page) and then we went to Knuckleheads – an indoor amusement park – where Kate had a blast jumping in bouncy houses and riding this airplane ride over and over again!
Our February started off a little rough, but ended with lots of fun! What were some of your February highlights?
Super cute valentines!! The highlight of our February was moving from San Fran to a bigger place in Berkeley. We loved living in SF but we it was time for a change.
Congratulations on your move, Heather! Hope you’re settling well into your new place!
You are really inspiring me with these monthly recaps. I am trying to consider how I can try something reminiscent of this, which I think will really help when it comes time to do my photobooks.
NewlyWoodwards is converting to WP as we speak. I am already amazed by all the plugins an tools. It’s almost overwhelming. But in a good way.
Thank you so much, Kim! Let me know what you think of your WP conversion. I’d love to hear about any tips you have or plug-ins you’d recommend! I’m still learning the ropes with all of it.
I agree — the circus is sad. My favorite thing about February is that it’s over! For the shortest month of the year it sure seems the longest. And our weather in KY is so cold and gray. Definitely makes me appreciate spring that much more!
P.S. — Soooo glad I can comment again! Must be my computer.
February is a hard month, isn’t it?! I don’t usually wish the days away, but I’m glad it’s over, too. I’m so gald you can comment again too, Carla! Happy to have you back!
