Kate and I have been having fun playing around with no-carve pumpkin decorating ideas this Halloween season and here’s our latest creation – a mummy pumpkin!
After seeing Pottery Barn’s mummy pillow I thought, “Hey, that’d be a great a great way to decorate a pumpkin!” Not only did this orange ball of seeds turn out super cute – he was super simple, too!
I used Beacon 3-In-1 Craft Glue, which is one of my favorite glues for craft projects because it sets quickly so you don’t have to hold things in place for more than a second or two. It also dries clear and quickly. For the mummy strips I used a flour sack kitchen towel (I got mine at Target) which I ripped into strips for a raw edge look.
To make, simply wrap strips around a clean, dry pumpkin and glue ends to secure. Be sure to overlap and crisscross strips to get that fun mummy look.
For the eyes, I cut wobbly circles out of card stock, painted them with glossy black craft paint, and glued them onto the pumpkin with craft glue. The good news is they’re mummy eyes, so they don’t need to be perfect.
This mummy pumpkin might have his mouth all wrapped up, but he certainly makes us smile!
He goes great with this little skull & crossbones ribbon pumpkin.
I know skulls & crossbones are supposed to be scary, but they look so cute wrapped around this little orange guy!
