Not Your Mama’s Winter Boots

December 20, 2008 By Dusty Rogers 9 Comments

Looking for some stylish winter boots to get you through the season? Yeah, me too. And so is my friend, Jill. And every other girl I know. So I did a little digging (or maybe I just went to zappos.com–work smarter not harder, right?) to find something warm and waterproof enough to handle the snow and slush, yet stylish enough to wear throughout the day without needing to change. I was pleasantly surprised to find so many great styles! Here are some of my favorites:

Ankle Boots & Shoes
Keen Chamonix–waterproof suede and leather slip-ons available in brown and black. Also available in red and green.

Sudini Berkeley–waterproof suede and leather zip-ups with a slight wedge for a little extra height (gotta love that!), available in black and brown.
Ugg Magpie–not just for teenage girls going to see Twilight! Get yourself a pair of these and your tootsies will stay warm, dry, and stylish all winter long.

Low Boots
Sperry Top-Sider Sadie–made of rubber and lined with fleece, these adorable navy blue boots will keep you nice and dry through winter and into the spring! And don’t worry about that 2″ wedge heel–these soles are designed for extra traction.
Sporto Nina–these little fur-cuffed waterproof suede ankle boots come in brown, black, and honey.

Patagonia Stubai–these boots come with all the bells and whistles you could want in a winter boot. And they’re made from recycled materials! Available in white, light brown, and dark brown.
Kamik Boreal–available in cream, brown, and black, these bad boys will keep your toes toasty in temperatures as low as -25°F/-32°C!

Tall Boots
Khombu Montreal–I am loving these waterproof suede and leather tall boots. I think it’s the buckles that get me. So cute!
Sorel Sura–these beautiful boots, available in brown and black, feature lacing up the back for a fun little twist.

Sporto Glitter–these cozy waterproof velvet suede boots are available in black or brown.
Santana Deena 2–these gorgeous patent PU boots will keep you warm and dry, and turn heads! Available in black, brown, and red.

Do You Dare? Boots
Okay, okay, I know what you’re thinking–what in the world are high-heeled boots doing in a post about winter boots? Well hear me out. I’m the kind of girl that has a hard time hanging up her stilettos just because there’s a measly foot of snow on the ground. A very hard time. Which is why, when I came across these next 3 pairs of boots, I knew I had to include them in this post. If you’re like me and still want to wear heels (at your own risk, of course!) even though it’s the middle of winter, you may be interested to know the following beauties are guaranteed to be waterproof! What more can a high-heeled-loving Midwestern girl ask for?

Santana Cassandra–available in brown and black.
Santana Samantha–these boots make my mouth water! Available in tan and black.
Sudini Princeton–available in black and brown leather or suede. And the neatest part–the little faux fur collar at the top is removable!

Ohhh, I like the tall boots that tie up the back. Makes me wish I lived somewhere cold and snowy!

Lol, both of my winter boots are tall with heels. But they’re lined in sheep so I say rock on, I’m gonna be warm AND cute.

I so remember the first time we met IRL in the sloppy snow in Minnesota and you had heels on! I was so impressed!

    I love all of these!

Very cute, and although high heels, my ankles and snow don’t usually mix well, I like to test it out about once a year. Maybe those fur ones would be a good choice for testing in 2009.

I love boots, too bad I’m forced to only have tall ones–here in Michigan we can get a foot of snow in March (as with most other northern states). I adore the brown Sorel’s :).

Gorgeous! You should to a shoe guide for every season. It’d save me the research.
