If I Had A Million Dollars…

January 11, 2009 By Dusty Rogers 22 Comments

…I would gladly give it all to the next person who walks in my door and offers to take down my Christmas decorations for me.

Seriously. Or I’d bake cookies for someone who was just willing to sit in my house and talk to me while I take them down and put them away myself. It’s so tedious!

I hear you. I took down eveything but the tree (while I was on a very boring and long conference call for work).
I just asked DH what the plans are for today and he said to take down the tree (that only has lights now). I asked why, we need a plant in that corner ANYWAY!.

I’m already exhausted just thinking of all the pine needles I will have to pick up!

Not having to clean up Christmas decorations is the ONLY redeeming factor of us not decorating for Christmas this year.

    Best of luck!

I’ll do it for the price of a plane ticket and permission to stay in the circle room. Oh, and you’d have to feed me, but not much since I’m back on Weight Watchers to get Christmas off my butt.

You’re on your own w/ this one, D =) All we had was our tree to take down and I still couldn’t do it until yesterday. Gah!

OK well now I don’t feel so bad. We just took ours down last night…and all the other Christmas items that found there ways into this house.

Ohhh mine are still up too! And the hubby and I are currently just sitting here on our computers… not looking productive at all.

    Good luck with that! :)

Did this yesterday with both kiddos (5 & 2) “helping”. Went much faster than putting everything up! Its definitely time for a new tree as I tore up my hands taking it down this year. I even made a mental note to remember that taking it all down isn’t nearly as overwhelming as it seems at first! Getting the Hubs to take the boxes to the garage for storage is a different story!

    You can do it Ladies!!!!

I guess that’s the ONLY reason I’m thankful for having a small condo. We don’t have the room to put anything, so a lot doesn’t go up. It took me no time to take everything down.

Crack open a bottle of wine and spend a few hours taking it all down. An ornament here, a sip there, some garland here, a glass there. Good luck!

Did it yesterday. It was painful. Start with the mantle so that it goes quickly and feel a sense of accomplishment!

I would have offered the same deal 3 hours ago as I prepared to wash my walls to get them ready for fresh paint tomorrow.

I would have doubled it if that same person had ripped up my carpet yesterday.

Ugh — I can’t even remember what its like to clean up holiday decor! I moaned and groaned taking wreaths down!

It’s pretty, leave it up all year 😉

ha, ha… I agree! It’s sad, annoying, and then you still have to clean, after putting everything away! Ugh, good luck.

LOL – I did it today, thankfully my husband was kind enough to help. I found the best way is to take stuff down and sort as you go. Put them all in one room. Once you have everything sorted and in the one room, bring all of your bins and boxes into that room and just pack like crazy. Good luck!

    Take care,
    Lisa

I finally summoned up the motivation to get ours down this weekend. It sucks. My only advice is dive in head first. Of course you could always leave it up year round and change the decorations to match the season :-)

I just took all of mine down yesterday. I was seriously considering leaving it all up for the year. For some reason though the boyfriend didn’t like that idea.

When that person is done, could you send them to my house to box everything of my up? I have it all pilled by room on the kitchen table and the boxes are labeled, we just need some neat packers!

    Thanks! :)

    D-
Our priest just told the congregation yesterday that we are supposed to extend Christmas until Feb 2. He said we should leave all decorations or at least one thing that reminds us of Christmas up until then – so you’ve got a few weeks yet!

Ahh, I finally got my tree down Saturday afternoon. I had already taken down the other decorations down the weekend before. Not as bad as I had anticipated. Drank some beer while doing it and it helped. Now I just gotta get the hubs to put all the storage containers back in the attic.

    Best of luck!

I took my stuff down this weekend and it was not as much fun as putting it up. And took forever.

It is always tough getting the motivation to tear-down, isn’t it? Holiday spirit, be damned.

Stop by my blog when you get a chance, there’s an award waiting for you.
