I was so excited to get family pictures taken for Kate’s 3 month photo shoot!
My husband? Not so much.
He’s just not a pictures guy. And I’m never further than three feet away from my camera at any given time. You can see how this could cause some friction, right? When I told G that I really really really wanted to do family pictures he shot me down instantly. I begged, he still said no. I bribed, he still said no. And then in a huff I said, “Fine! But thirty years from now when Kate’s getting married and we’re watching the video photo montage of her life and you’re not in any of the pictures, you are going to be pissed!”
“Okay, fine, I’ll do it.”
Aha! Found the weak spot!
Once again we had Andrea Elberg (the photographer who did Kate’s newborn pictures) come to our home for the event, and let me tell you–she was amazing. We didn’t know it at the time but Kate’s reflux was at its worst, so instead of our usual happy, smiley baby, we had a little girl who was in a lot of pain and just not pleased about anything. We kept thinking Kate would calm down, but after a few attempts at pictures we decided it just wasn’t a good day and told Andrea we needed to finish. I was thinking to myself, “Oh well, we don’t need three month pictures,” when Andrea surprised me by saying, “I can come back and try again tomorrow if you’d like.” Andrea came back not once, but twice, to complete Kate’s three month photo shoot. I couldn’t believe how patient and understanding she was with what our little girl was going through–and I’m so grateful to finally have a family photo where I’m actually clothed from the waist down!
Aww so cute! You will treasure these family photos. So nice to have shots of all of you together during this special time!!
You look great BTW!!!!
She’s too precious!

D-She looks so insanely cute!!!!!!! Great family pics. I love her legwarmers. When I’m crabby at work I just look at your blog and pics of Kate and it just makes me smile! Hope I get to meet her soon.
Great photos! My husband also has a hatred for the camera (meanwhile I carry our DSLR everywhere we go), and I’ve been slowly starting to break the news that family photos are a must when the baby comes (I’m 16 weeks today!). I might try the wedding video montage line… how could you say no to that??!
What great pictures – my husband hates having his picture taken too and I hope he gets over it when we have kids. I’ll have to remember the “you’ll regret it at the wedding” line.
I am a huge picture person as well, you will be so glad that you have these. I got pictures taken every 3 months of my son’s first year because they change so much!
These turned out great, I love the one of you on the bed looking at Kate!
i think it’s one of those inescapable parts of a male’s genetics – incapable of putting toilet seat down, hates pictures, etc..
you guys are beautiful – and i agree, the pictures were a must! i’m sure you will treasure those forever!
What a beautiful family you three make! Love the photos, and G will totally appreciate them.
great pics! I love the 2nd one and how smiley she is!
LOVE!!!!! PS – Our husbands would get along well š
This is great! Beautiful!
Beautiful pics Dusty!
What a gorgeous little family you have there! She’s super cute!
She is adorable! Looking at these photos makes me very excited for my little girl’s arrival in less than three months!
What a cute family you have!! This is my first comment but I’ve been visiting your blog for a while now. I’m a Midwest girl too!
So cute!!!
Beautiful family, it looks like a catalogue photo session!
Aw love the family pics! She’s so beautiful!
These are beautiful!! Such a beautiful family!
Thanks so much for all your kind words! Your comments really make my day! š
@Gin–Oh my goodness, that is so sweet of you to say! I hope you get to meet Kate soon, too!
@Kate–I hope pregnancy is treating you well! It goes by so quickly. You’re little one will be here before you know it–and then you’ll really never put down the camera, lol!
@Nicole–Only three more months? How exciting!! I hope they are as comfortable as can be for you!
@Candace–Thanks so much for your first comment! š
what a beautiful little fuzzy head! I love the second to last picture, so sweet!
Such a lovely family – and the photographer is amazing! My picture-hating husband has given up on the family photo fight, since Christmas cards with a fabulous family pic are one of my very favorite things!
Too cute! Beautiful pictures, and her little outfits are adorable!
ADORABLE! All 3 of you!! I can feel the love.
great pics! i’m glad G finally succumbed! my hb thinks professional photos are a *waste* of money. too bad he doesn’t have a say in the matter since i’m the one who does all the albums and photo walls! š
Beautiful pictures! Our little one is arriving in 13 weeks (give or take!), and I definitely want to do something like this in the future. I LOVED Kate’s newborn pics when she first came home, too. Adorable!
Very nice pics. Are you growing your bangs out?

My daughter is just a few days older than Kate and our family pictures look just like yours! I think I’m looking at the camera in maybe one shot! She’s just so cute, I can’t help it!
Thanks so much everyone!
@jbhat–Yep, I’m growing them out. It started with just not having time to get a haircut, and then they started annoying the hell out of me. I was always looking down at Kate and they were getting in the way of my lovingly gaze!! So I started pinning them back all the time and that’s where things are at now.
She’s adorable! I love the polka dot outfit
YES!! You look amazing by the way. She did a wonderful job!!
You look great! So young and so fit! Cute baby and a nice family
Love these!
Thank you so much!
