DIY Princess Anna Ornament

November 18, 2014 By Dusty Rogers 8 Comments

When it comes to those sisters of Frozen, Kate is all about Elsa, but G and I are big fans of Anna.  That girl’s got spunk.

(“But she doesn’t have magical powers,” Kate likes to point out to us.)

Kate is so into Elsa – “NOT Anna” – that imagine my surprise when she decided we needed to make a DIY Princess Anna Ornament to go along with her DIY Princess Elsa Ornament!  (I think she was worried Elsa would get lonely without her sister.)

For anyone who saw our Princess Elsa ornament and thought it would be too hard to make, I have news for you – Kate actually designed this ornament!  (See our Princess Elsa ornament for DIY instructions.)  Once she decided we needed a Princess Anna ornament she cut out all of the tattoos (we did this ornament exclusively in tattoos, unlike Elsa which was a combination of tattoos and stickers) and placed them on the ornament where she wanted them.  I then held the washcloth for her and peeled off the paper backing once she decided it was ready.  I’m so impressed with how great it turned out!

If a four-year-old can do it, so can you!

I can’t seem to get the tattoo to stick to the glass ornament. I applied it just as described and it peels off. Any suggestions?

I’m so sorry to hear that, Anita! Make sure your ornament is clean before applying the tattoo. Hopefully that will take care of it. Otherwise make sure your rag is wet enough for a good transfer and peel the paper slowly and slightly to check that it is sticking. If it isn’t, continue pressing it down to the glass. Maybe use a paper towel over the tattoo backing at this point to encourage sticking. Good luck! I hope this works for you!

I love this! I am curious, what did you use to fill your ornament with? Is it glitter?

Thank you, Story! I used faux snow ornament filler from Michaels to fill this ornament. It’s a fine, white, flaky material that has flecks of glitter and sparkles in it.

Thank you so much, Nancy! I found these tattoos last year in the Dollar Spot at Target.
