The 2nd and final day of our Lowe’s “Bleak to Chic” makeover in Portland, Maine kicked off with a much-anticipated garage door installation! Deanna’s old green garage door was replaced with a stunning new Pella Colesburg carriage style garage door from Lowe’s, making a major statement and giving her home a beautiful boost in curb appeal.

Out with Deanna’s old garage door…

…and in with the new.

One of the interesting things I learned from our garage door installers (a mother & sons team working for Amarr) – and one of the things that makes this garage door style from Pella so beautiful – is its unique three-section design. Take a look at garage doors the next time you’re driving through your neighborhood and you’ll notice that most have a four or five section design – meaning the door is made up of 4 or 5 narrow horizontal panels. The result is smaller patterns and windows, since their height is limited by each panel’s height. Deanna’s new Pella garage door, however, is made up of only three panels, so they are wider and the patterns can appear larger and more prominent. Check out those big beautiful windows!

Adding the black metal decorative hardware.

While the garage door was being installed, our Lowe’s Heroes were busy putting the finishing touches on Deanna’s front yard makeover.

Fixing the downspout.

Creating the vertical flower garden.

Touching up window trim.
Our Lowe’s Heroes really knocked this front yard makeover out of the park! In two days they accomplished what would take most people two summers to complete! It was so fantastic to have such a talented team of people lending their expertise and skills.

I’m so grateful for this incredible opportunity to partner with Lowe’s, meet all of these wonderful Lowe’s Heroes, visit the beautiful state of Maine, and most of all – to help out a deserving homeowner. Deanna was such a joy to work with! A DIYer to the core, she was right there in the thick of things every step of the way, and is loving her new front yard makeover!
