They call it “moody florals” and it’s one of the current fashion trends for fall. Basically, it’s taking those frilly spring floral patterns and darkening them up. Putting those perky petals through a little teenage angst and having them come out all moody and broody. Less Lilly Pulitzer, more Rose McGowan.

Fetra Scoop Neck Blouse by Daniel Rainn
(I say this like I’ve been keeping up with the trends and know what I’m talking about, when in reality I’ve been rotating through the same five shirts for the past six months while the majority of my clothes have been in storage.)
My lack of a wardrobe for half of a year aside, I’m a major fan of this top. It’s a nice length, lightweight, flowy (←read: “doesn’t cling to my lovehandles”) and a great basic piece with that little something extra. I paired it with my new favorite skinnies (that feel like pajamas) because all I have for bottoms right now is skinny jeans and yoga pants, and I just don’t quite picture my moody florals perking up and heading to the gym. I do, however, picture them tucked into a pensive pencil skirt once I get my hands back on one.
