7 reasons I love texting, versus talking to people on the phone:
1. I hate talking to people on the phone.
2. You don’t have to use real words.
3. You’re forced to get to the point. There’s only so much small talk you have to deal with when you’re limited to 160 characters.
4. You can do it in the bathroom stall without worrying about the sound of the trickle. Which leads me to #5…
5. No one can hear you slur your words. “Must have Taco Bell” looks a lot better than “ooomigaaawd, seeeerusly, I whaaa, canwe, smmbdy take me to Taco Bell” sounds.
6. You can fake it. It’s much easier to faux text than faux talk when you’re trying to look important in the elevator or avoid conversation in the grocery store check-out lane.
7. I haven’t had to charge my cell phone in a month.
Got any you’d like to add to the list? I’d love to hear them!

Ah, thank you! I hate talking on the phone, too. Love texting – glad you told me about faking it, I still fake talk on the phone when I’m in the car at a stop light and feel awkward doing nothing. Weird?
I HATE talking on the phone, but you haven’t had to charge your phone in 6 WEEKS? That’s amazing!
That is awesome, true and complete.
I despise talking on the phone, so much so that I was recently told my incessant texting makes me seem unapproachable and not tuned in to people in real life when they’re speaking to me. Ouch, right?
And I despise when someone calls me from the toilet, which happens more than you’d think.
Texting RULEZ!
I think this is the first time I’ve ever admitted this BUT…I’ve never sent a text message. Never. Not once. Crazy, huh?
Hahah, I love the Taco Bell one. Although, I’m definitely guilty of sending this text message, “I want TB right now!” Yeah, somehow my TB didn’t come across as Taco Bell.
Nothing to add to the list, because I totally abhor texting (sorry!). I’ve heard of quite a few unintelligible drunk texts that were supposed to relate to Taco Bell, but were so slurred in typing that no one had a clue what they said.
I also hate talking on the phone! I actually just taught my boss to text and told him anytime he needed anything – text me vs. leaving me a voicemail. It would get done a whole lot faster. š
I love texting! I too hate talking on the phone!
I may just text you now because I love to text so much!
Dawnbabe
I am totally with you! Although in my analness (totally a word) I still feel like I have to spell properly. I think the most I’ll do is write “thru” for through. Can’t bring myself to text l8r or anything like that *shudder*
LOL Em! But that’s when I pluck my eyebrows!
Kari–6 weeks might’ve been pushing it. I edited to say a month. But who knows. I honestly can’t remember the last time I charged my phone (but it’s due for it now, so that’s what made think of it.)
CageQueen–that cracks me up! G hates it when I text in his pressence, too. Likely for that same reason. Please. I’m a woman–I can do both!
Rachel–NEVER?? You’re missing out, babe! š
Heidi–OMG, the TB abbreviation cracks me up. I’m glad you mentioned that. My friend Jill and I have shorted our favorite bar to “TF’s” so I’ll be sure NOT to do the same abbrev. for Taco Bell, lol!
Sea–good for you! They always say you’re supposed to “train” your boss! I emailed mine one time and ended it: “WDYT?” He emailed back: “What does WDYT mean? I don’t speak text.” Well guess what–he does now, lol!
Jen–I’m pretty anal w/my text messages too, but I’m all for abbreviating. It’s the punctuation and capitalization that I absolutely have to do. But I’m trying to let go! =)
Dawnbabe–I’m standing by for your text. š
I get annoyed with texts. I’d rather email or call.
I agree with all of your points. I prefer e-mail but sometimes I really hate calling
I suck at texting. My students amaze me at their skills and make me feel old. Boo : (
The invention of predictave text changed my life, but I never have quite gotten the hang of all that text slang, gr8, U, me 2, and all the rest of it.
I but also prefer texting, so much cheaper and you can send one to virtually anywhere in the world.
U R so rite
GL & Gr8 pst
D!! Greatest.List.Ever.
A sign that we love texting too much was the other day when the Hubs texted me. From the bathroom. In our house (I was outside). He apparently needed me to bring him a roll of TP.
OMG, FC–that’s hilarious!!
I completely agree with each of your points. Texting was quite arguably one of the greatest things ever created. #5 is my favorite! Texting is also extremely helpful when at concerts. Trying to find friends using the traditional phone methods is near impossible!
