The last time I made the 4 hour drive north to visit my sister, I stopped at a gas station just off I-94 to use the bathroom. Well imagine my surprise to see this sign taped to the inside of the bathroom stall:
The hand-written part reads: “Ponder This: Where do you think the money comes from for bath tissue, soap, hand towels, water to flush, water to wash your hands, electricity?”
When I exited the stall I noticed it was not only taped up inside the stall–but all around the bathroom. My first reaction was to march down the men’s bathroom to see if the sign was taped up down there, too. It was.
And then I felt so guilty that I bought a soda.
Eesh! Can’t a girl pee in peace?

This is great. Really.
I had that same feeling when I stopped, sans purchase, to use the facility at a Starbucks recently.
But my belief is that, hey, it’s (thankfully) a free country and peeing is a force of nature! See YOUR way to the exit, store-created Guilt Trips.
That is the funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time! The gall!
That’s hilarious!!! Clearly, it was effective because you bought something.
This is made even funnier by the fact that there was a cartoon to illustrate the point and not just a sign.
That’s crazy. I always feel a little guilty when I stop somewhere to go to the bathroom. I always end up buying something…
Bwahaha.
LOL you have to send that in to http://www.passiveaggressivenotes.com/
Oh wow. That’s…different.
I would have to just walk out after reading that. Just out of spite! lol
Oh the nerve.
I might have bought a soda though. When the clerk rang me up, however, I’d ask if my money was (finally) going to some cleaning supplies.
If they can’t keep them at a sanitary level of just-better than port-a-potty, get rid of the signage.
What an asshat for posting that! In most places it’s against the law to not ahve a bathroom. And where would the clerk go? Really. I would have walked right out! haha.
Now that is one passive-aggressive note if I’ve ever seen one.
I just discovered your blog today and I love, love, love it. You have a wonderful decorating style and such great ideas. Come on over to my blog and take a look at my house and give me some much needed help. Pretty Please!!!
You’re kidding me, right? Wow. I would walk out without buying anything just to make a statement.
