September 14-September 20
Twenty-four weeks pregnant and our little girl should weigh about 1.5 pounds by now. She’s accumulating baby fat, growing organs, bones, and muscles, and her face is almost fully formed (and adorable as ever I’m sure)–not bad for a week’s worth of work in this proud mama’s opinion! (What did you accomplish this week? Grow any organs? I doubt it. My child is already so advanced.)
I’ve become obsessed with watching my belly ever since I saw the baby’s kick move my belly last week. My shirt pretty much takes up permanent residence around my neck as soon as I’m in the privacy of my own home just so I don’t miss a single movement. She continues to be just as active as ever–maybe even more so these days–and it’s been so much fun to feel her and watch her!
My biggest craving lately, without a doubt, has been CINNAMON! Cinnamon cereal, cinnamon oatmeal, cinnamon toast, cinnamon rolls–you name it, I’m eating it. I just cannot get enough of it!
I experienced a strange pregnancy symptom earlier this week–I got a bloody nose completely out of nowhere! Luckily I was in a bathroom when it happened, so I was able to catch it immediately, but it really could have been a much more unfortunate situation. I’ve never had a bloody nose before, but I read about it being a potential symptom in one of my pregnancy books and thankfully remembered what it said to do to get it to stop–pinch your nose just under the bridge, and tip your head forward not backward. Glad to know I’m retaining at least some of the things I’m reading in those pregnancy books!
Week 24 has been a big sports week for me and the baby! G and I went to a Badger football game on Saturday and when we asked a couple sitting near us to take our picture one of them said, “Hey! Baby’s first Badger game!” It’s never too early to start making her a Badger fan!

We also had our last volleyball game of the season this week, and our team took home the league championship! We took a team picture to celebrate our victory–left to right: Deb & Andy, me & G, and Robyn & Todd. I had my big ol’ baby bump sticking out so the girls stuffed volleyballs up their shirts to match. I’m pretty sure I’m still the biggest, lol!

Time for me and the bump to retire my bump (and set, and spike) until next year!

Feeling the baby move is the best EVER. Enjoy.
Ugh, I had the nosebleed thing often with my first pregnancy. Here’s a tip: put a bag of frozen peas onto the back of your neck /head when tipping your head forward. The cold constricts the blood vessels in your head, stopping the bleeding faster.
your team pic is adorable! definitely one for the baby book! i’m getting so excited knowing you’re so close and i don’t even know you! thanks for keeping me updated!
So far so good, girl! I can’t believe how fast time is going! She’ll be here in no time!
Yay for Big Ten babies! I’m proud to have been one myself š
I have nose bleeds all the time in the winter but they are never fun! You are right about the pinching at the nose and leaning forward thing… some people think I’m crazy when I do that but it’s the only way to get it to stop and not have it run down your throat!
Cute pictures! Glad you guys won the champ!!!
My husband’s family is huge on Wisconsin football. They’d be proud to know that you are starting her early!
The volleyball pictures is hysterical. You have fun friends.
I love the volleyball pic
Found out today that we’re also having a girl! Can’t wait to see what cute girl nursery ideas you come up with š
i got those nosebleeds a lot as well when i was pregnant. strange the weird symptoms that come out, isn’t it.
the volley ball pic was funny.
@Jen M–thanks for the tip about the peas! I haven’t had any other bloody noses since (thank goodness) but you never know when one might strike. I’m so paranoid about it now!
@Ashley–congratulations on the news that you’re having a girl! That’s so exciting!!
