Sweater Dress Remixed

December 7, 2009 By Dusty Rogers 21 Comments

As my belly gets bigger the options in my closet are getting smaller. It’s pretty slim pickings at this point. Now that I’m nearing the end of my pregnancy I really don’t want to buy any new maternity clothes, but I’m also not as prepared as I should have been for this cold Wisconsin weather.

Time to get creative!

I spotted this sweater dress and realized that if I wore it open it would make the perfect maternity cardigan/sweater coat! It is so warm and cozy and the short sleeves keep me from getting too warm. This is officially my new favorite item in my wardrobe!

Sweater Dress: The Limited
Top: Old Navy Maternity
Jeans: Gap Maternity
Boots: Nine West
Pregnancy: 33 weeks

Hi D, I can completely relate. I have two weeks left and we are just starting to get into the chilly temps here in Cleveland. At this point, I refuse to buy anymore maternity clothes. Love the sweater!!

You look so cozy! You just reminded me, I bought one for family photos from H&M not long ago. I should get it out of the closet.

That looks so cozy, and once the baby pops out, you’ll have a cute dress for the rest of the winter!

Do you have any baby consignment stores near you? When I was pregnant with my son I scored tons of maternity clothes there for next to nothing. Or maybe put out a Craigslist ad – most women are super eager to get rid of the maternity stuff they have lying around.

    You look fabulous! :)

That’s such a great idea! I just saw sweater dresses like that on sale at TJMaxx… I think I might have to make a quick shopping stop on my way home from work today!

Great idea! And the beauty of it is that you’ll still have this as a non maternity item afterwards when you can wear it as a dress. Lovely! S.
