Maternity Improvising

January 22, 2010 By Dusty Rogers 18 Comments

Sweater: Gap Maternity
Jeans: Old Navy Maternity
Shirt: Old Navy
Boots: Steve Madden
Pregnancy: 38 weeks

Notice anything different since the last time I wore this striped & ruffled shirt?

At risk of stating the obvious, I’ll just come right out and say it:

My hair is longer.

Oh yeah, and there may or may not be an extra 26 pounds that has taken up residence where my waistline used to be. So how I was able to wear this non-maternity shirt at 38 weeks pregnant?

Well that’s where the improvising comes in.

I could only get the first few buttons of this shirt buttoned, but luckily that’s all that shows. I kept the rest of the buttons unbuttoned to accommodate the baby bump, but you’d never know it because they’re hidden by the sweater. And last but not least, I layered a spaghetti strapped camisole top over the shirt–which also stays hidden underneath the sweater–to keep the unbuttoned part of the shirt in place and laying nice and flat:

This little camisole trick worked so well I may continue to use it for layering even when I’m not pregnant!

I would have never noticed the hair if you didn’t point it out

I have to agree with everyone else – this is PURE GENIUS!!! I would never in a million years thought of doing something like that at the end of my pregnancy…but I’ll definitely keep it in mind this time around!

And it works wonders because I remember being SO tired of my maternity clothes by 38 weeks last time…the BEST idea!

Very clever! Where’d you get the little white shirt over the ruffled button up one?
