Homemade All-Natural Fruit Leathers

Did you know fruit leathers are incredibly simple to make yourself?

All it takes is four ingredients and time in your oven!

Ingredients
1 pint of strawberries, leaves removed and diced
6 kiwis, peeled and diced
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1 Tablespoon Wildtree Very Berry Cheesecake Blend

Directions
Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and cook over medium low heat, stirring occasionally for about 20 minutes or until fruit is very soft.  Transfer to a blender and puree until smooth.

Strain your pureed fruit mix through a fine mesh strainer to remove any seeds. (I strain about half of my mix, using a spatula to help press it through. Then I rinse the seeds out of my strainer and strain the rest. I’ve found this to work a lot faster than trying to strain it all at once since there are so many seeds.)

Preheat oven to its lowest setting (usually between 140-170 degrees F) with rack in middle, and line a baking sheet with a Silpat, or other nonstick baking mat (I use my sheet of reusable parchment paper).  Pour hot puree onto prepared pan and spread out into a rectangle as evenly as possible.

Bake puree in oven until it feels dry to the touch, about 6-8 hours.

Cool in pan until completely dry – at least 3 hours and up to 24. (Your fruit leather does not need to be covered during this step – I just leave mine out on the counter.)  Once dried, place a sheet of parchment paper over leather, then peel leather off liner and roll up into parchment.  Cut or tear fruit leather into snack-size pieces and store in a resealable bag or container.

The secret ingredient!

Homemade All-Natural Fruit Leathers using Wildtree's Very Berry Cheesecake Blend | www.allthingsgd.com

Wildtree’s Very Berry Cheesecake Blend

Wildtree’s Very Berry Cheesecake Blend is a delicious and all-natural blend of strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries. In addition to using it in these fruit leathers, it also makes a killer cheesecake dip that you can serve with fruit, graham crackers or cookies – or fill a graham cracker crust for a quick and easy cheesecake. Kate loves a little bit of this sprinkled in her plain Greek yogurt, and with only 2 grams of sugar (and 10 calories) per 3/4 teaspoon, it’s an excellent and all-natural way to make your own flavored yogurt (versus buying the sugar-loaded already flavored kinds at the grocery store)!

You can purchase Wildtree’s Very Berry Cheesecake Blend (and find additional recipes) online at my site (click on “Shop”).  U.S. shipping is a flat rate of $6.95 for orders up to $70, so save yourself a trip to the grocery store and stock up on your organic and all-natural groceries today!
