A 50% success rate is considered pretty fricking awesome when it comes to a lot of things. Let’s just keep that in mind, mmkay?
The following were my six 2012 Resolutions: (Care to guess how many of them I completed before reading on?)
1. I will finally finish all the blog posts I currently have saved in my “drafts” folder.
Okay, really, this was a dumb resolution to make now that I failed at it think about it, because frankly if I finished all of the posts I currently have in draft form it’d mean I’ve run out of ideas, topics, and things to blog about, which probably means I’ve become LAME, which probably means I’ve given up on life, which probably means I’ll have to shut down the blog, which means I’ve FAILED.
So, as you can see…successfully completing this resolution = failure.
No thanks.
Next!
2. Run 500 miles.
Who’s got two legs and ran more than 500 miles last year?
This girl!
In addition to hitting my mileage goal, I also ran not one, but two half marathons (13.1 miles) in 2012! My first half in 2012 was the Madison Mini-Marathon and my second was the Tyranena Beer Run with my friend Jill.
Goal achieved!
3. Give yoga a try.
I’m requesting an extension on this one to carry it over into 2013.
(Meaning I didn’t accomplish it in 2012, but I’m not giving up on the idea!)
4. Can peaches.
It’s not my fault I didn’t accomplish this one! Hear me out. Kate loved peaches a year ago, but for some strange reason, when peach season rolled around this year she refused to eat them…ergo, no need to can them for her to have all year round. My true intent behind this resolution was to get into canning fruits and vegetables, and that I did! My very first canning accomplishment was pickled green beans, canned for my friend Allison. See how pretty they are?
After that, I canned the black bean salsa topping for my favorite Spicy Black Bean Salad, and now I have plenty on hand for a grab-and-go lunch during my work week.
I’mma gonna go ahead and give myself a (mostly) achieved for this goal.
5. See most of the movies nominated for a Best Picture Oscar before the awards show airs on February 26, 2012.
Done! I saw 6 out of the 9 nominated movies prior to awards night: The Help, Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, Midnight in Paris, Moneyball, The Descendants, and The Artist.
And the Oscar goes to…
6. Complete the 2012 Whole Living Challenge.
Another successful accomplishment! I’m currently in the midst of doing the 2013 Whole Living Challenge, and you can read all about my experience last year here.

Pretty darn good! I LOVED those green beans! Although I feel bad that’s practically the only thing you canned! Mmmmm they were amazing and are all gone!
So glad you liked them, Allison! I was happy to have a request so I could give it a try!
