“I don’t do windows.”
It’s an expression turned cliché because so many people hate washing their windows! (Myself included.)
You know who doesn’t?
Fish Foam!
I had the pleasure of meeting the fine folks of Fish Foam – the experts behind squeaky clean, crystal clear windows and glass – at last year’s Haven Conference, and was thrilled to pieces when they offered to come to my house to clean my windows for me – at no cost, and with no obligation to blog about it. Of course, as more and more businesses are finding out – when you perform a great service and do a great job at it, bloggers are going to spread the word!
Josh and Wayne were our window cleaners and they did an amazing job! I live in a two-story house with a fully exposed lower level (making it 3 stories from the back) on top of a big hill. Just seeing these guys outside on extension ladders long enough to reach up to our top floor windows was enough to nearly give me a heart attack!

An outside shot of Wayne cleaning our top story windows – they’re so high up his extension ladder barely reached!
Here’s an inside shot of him cleaning the windows in our living room – one story down. See the tree in the background? He’s at the top of it!
Braving bone rattling heights aside, these guys have all sorts of other skills up their sleeves! For starters, Kate decided to “decorate” our front windows one day with cheap stickers that refused to be removed without a fight, but Josh and Wayne took care of them no problem!
I’m embarrassed to even show this next picture, but the following points must be made:
- I was serious when I said I hate cleaning our windows, and
- Look at what an incredible job Fish Foam does of getting the window tracks clean!
Another tricky window spot in our house are these fixed grid windows in our living room and family room. They’re gorgeous and I love them, but they’re so high up that we’ve been unable to clean them from the outside. These suckers had literally not been cleaned since the day they were installed – until now!
When they finished I was thrilled with the results! I couldn’t help but think, though, that having your windows professionally cleaned is one of those luxuries only rich people can afford – you know, like personal chefs and hair extensions. I decided to get the scoop from Josh and Wayne before they left:
“Alright guys – give it to me straight. How much would this have cost me today?”
Well imagine my surprise to discover that getting our windows professionally cleaned is cheaper than getting our carpets cleaned – and that’s something we do every year! (And doesn’t require life-threatening extension ladder acrobatics to do!)
When’s the last time you cleaned your windows? Check out Fish Foam’s Window Cleaning website to find a location near you and to request a free estimate and let them do it for you!
What a great suggestion! The grimy grossness that builds up in those cracks is such a pet peeve of mine.
Ugh. Mine too, Julie. It always seems the worst in our sliding glass patio door tracks – yuck!
